The Great Effort of Bodhicitta Tantra. In Sanskrit: Bodhicitta Mahaparakrama Tantra. In Tibetan: The Great Effort of Bodhicitta Tantra. Homage to glorious Samantabhadra! Thus have I heard at one time. The Tathagata, the perfectly complete Buddha, abiding in the nature of great permanence, enjoying the suchness of all things, the self-nature of all things being utterly pure, the self-nature spontaneously accomplished as one, the suchness that is in no way separate, undifferentiated, or distinct, is bliss. Wherever the great generosity, the essence of enlightenment, is present, it is always thus. Then, the one who fully enjoys the great enjoyment, like the face of a precious jewel, exceedingly radiant, holding the mirror of the auspicious wheel, and being supreme in mastering all activities, resides in the principal chamber in the manner of a precious jewel, gathering all thoughts. Then, the Bhagavan, the glorious Vajrasattva Mahasattva, and those with lotuses, and so forth, having extensively offered with incense and seductive gestures, and so forth, praised with exceedingly pleasing voices. Then, having circumambulated three times to the right, the Bhagavan, the glorious Samantabhadra, who has attained mastery over all activities, knelt on the ground before the eyes of and remained. Having remained, the Bhagavan, the glorious Samantabhadra, did not speak, but only smiled. Then, standing before the Bhagavan, the glorious great Samantabhadra, in order to request the meaning of the suchness of all dharmas, the emptiness of self-nature, he requested as follows: The fruit of the unmade, spontaneous, selfless path, The unconditioned self-nature, the secret self-nature. The non-dual, spontaneous, view and conduct are utterly pure, I beseech the Bhagavan to explain. Thus he requested. Then, the Bhagavan, the glorious Samantabhadra, absorbed Vajrasattva and the offerings, and so forth, into his own body. Then, the Bhagavan, the glorious Samantabhadra, entered into the samadhi of non-dual purity. As soon as he entered, he emanated the retinue from his body. Then, in order to empower them, the Bhagavan spoke thus:

All that is without inside and outside is the realm of Dharma. In the pure realm of conduct, there is no duality. Buddhas and sentient beings are all non-existent. There is no practice, no effort, no aspiration. The unerring and supreme Great Perfection path, should be completely absorbed into the center of the citta. Then, the Bhagavan Samantabhadra, having understood the meaning of what was asked, spoke: The nature of all, the unsurpassed peaceful Dharma, is the supreme path of the Buddhas, the venerable and holy one. In the great bliss of non-duality, all is pure. The views, conduct, holding, and meditation of the Buddhas and others, abide as such. Having spoken thus, the Bhagavan Vajrasattva and others became greatly delighted. The Three Jewels are naturally complete, the Buddha himself is the great king. Conceptual thought is completely pure, the non-dual realm of Dharma. The great path of the teachings abides in this non-duality. In order to equally know, I also prostrate deeply. Then, the Bhagavan Samantabhadra himself spoke the words to be expressed: In the pure realm of Dharma, free from imputation, slander, bondage, and liberation, What can be deceived by the childish behavior of mental fabrication? Cause and effect are inseparable, the pure lands of Buddhas and sentient beings. The realm of conduct of all, in that which has no root. Even the mistaken clinging to the path of error, there is no other than the great path of the teachings. Equal knowing is the king of all Buddhas. In the clinging to self and self-grasping, there is complete peace. Supremely wondrous, the realm of all inside and outside. In the realm of conduct that is primordially pure, sentient beings and Buddhas are non-dual, the fortunate ones have power. Clinging to self and other is the wrong path of the tirthikas. Being deceived by children, one enters the path of Dharma practice. There is no time that has passed, no time of realization, so how can the non-dual Dharma be found? From the tantra of the great exertion of Bodhicitta, the first chapter, the introduction. Then, the Bhagavan Vajrasattva again prostrated, Bhagavan Great Lord, the path of selflessness, non-duality, and complete purity, upon what should one rely to practice? Please explain, O Lord of Truth. Having thus asked the Bhagavan, the Bhagavan Samantabhadra, having understood the meaning, spoke: Rely on the supreme spiritual friend, generate faith and devotion. If one can travel that path of cause, enter the stages and obtain the result, in the bliss of non-duality
