Clinging to the idea of a permanent self, the idea of effect without cause, the idea of cause without effect, and the idea of the existence of a supreme being. That is the system of the Jaṭilas. The supreme being, with unobstructed power, creates beings all at once. Brahmins, Samkhyas, and naked ascetics believe that things are permanent but their nature changes. The purusha, the self, does not create others, nor do others create the self. The Carakas are like whirlwinds. The Maudgalas believe in annihilation. For them, this is permanent, because it suddenly appears at any time. Samsara has no end. Or does dissolution occur? From that, something else arises. If that itself arises, it becomes permanent. If that does not arise, there is no cause. If it does not arise in that way, effort is meaningless. If consciousness arises from matter, the fault of cause and effect being incompatible is immeasurable. The Jaṭilas want the supreme being to act. Does the supreme being act or not? If the supreme being does not act, why does the supreme being act? If action arises without acting, from permanence also comes cessation, and from cessation also comes permanence. That arising is uncertain, it cannot be permanent. If there is action, because there is action, it is inconceivable. The Samkhyas' things are not permanent in themselves, their nature changes in any way. If happiness and suffering are experienced, what is the use of things being permanent? If nothing changes, the boundaries of samsara and nirvana are cut off. Is nirvana permanent or samsara permanent? If samsara is permanent, it contradicts direct perception. If nirvana is permanent, what is the use of space? If samsara and nirvana are non-dual, things are permanent and their nature changes, hell is also Buddha, and Buddha is also hell. Beings themselves have no difference. Therefore, permanence, cessation, etc., are delusions. From delusion, those etc. are merely appearances. Those etc. are non-dual, the ultimate truth. The heart essence of Samantabhadra dawns in the minds of the fortunate. Thus, this is the third secret instruction that refutes opponents. Homage to the Bhagavan, the nature of freedom from elaboration. In the Dharmakaya, free from elaboration, spontaneously accomplished, clinging to conceptual thoughts as self is itself delusion. That delusion itself, from its own nature of purity, by what is what purified, and there is nothing to be attained. Or from purity itself, realizing that itself, there is no thinker or thought.

Its nature is pure. In the nature of spontaneously accomplished, uncreated, Great Perfection, it is primordially uncreated, self-arisen, and self-pacified. There is no doing or making; it is uncreated. The blind, with minds like children, do not realize this, but see abandoning samsara and accomplishing enlightenment as essential. Whatever is seen as seeking and practicing in reality is like a blind person groping for the sky, ultimately unattainable. Even if something is attained, it is a created thing. Why desire to attain dharma and individuals? Is it attained through ultimate, definitive truth, or through conventional truth? Or is the ground of enlightenment attained through delusion? The delusion of enlightenment arises. In terms of the ultimate, if the ultimate is attained by the ultimate, then it is not the ultimate. Because there is an attainer and something to be attained, it is truly existent. However, the attainer and the attainable are naturally pure. The Buddhas have declared the attainment of enlightenment, but if one merely follows the sound and desires to attain it, this ignorance is confusion, wandering in samsara. If one understands the meaning of conventional truth, cause and effect are contradictory, and it is truly dependent origination. Because one can realize the true meaning, it is not delusion. What is the benefit of conventional truth for the ultimate? Is it an imputation, or what is the ultimate truth for? If the conventional is realized by the ultimate truth, then the ultimate truth that realizes is not the ultimate truth, and what is realized is also conventional truth. If a certain conventionality becomes a condition and that meaning is realized, then that too will be destroyed as an antidote. If some people can realize without conditions, why can't they realize it from the beginning? Does a condition have a condition, or is it without a condition? When the condition ceases, why doesn't it perish? Therefore, when the knowable and the knower are pure, the true meaning is realized, and great bliss is accomplished. Thus it is said. Bodhicitta and all dharmas are without difference, and a blind person desires to become a Buddha through dharma with a self. Why not through cause, condition, dependent origination, and antidote? When there is no difference between self, dharma, and result, and when wisdom, abiding, and stability are attained, the Buddhas praise it as the ground, path, and fruit. The knowable and the knowing are naturally pure, the abiding and the abider are naturally pure, and if the perception of self and other is purified and does not arise, then the Buddhas have declared the attainment of enlightenment. If one merely follows the sound and desires to attain and realize, the blind are also bound by the chains of samsara. Therefore, when the knowable and the knowing are pure, the perfections, the ten bhumis, and the five paths are perfected. The kayas, wisdoms, and qualities are completely perfected, without abandoning names and minds.
