Lati, cut the thread of continuity! All phenomena appearing in this samsara, Since they are the magical display of the mind, Cut the thread of continuity without any object of focus! The thoughts that cling to appearances as signs, Are the view of those who possess realization. Cut the thread of continuity, because its nature is mind! For those bound to samsara by attachment, With the sharp razor of suchness, Cut the thread of continuity in a non-dual way! For those who have fallen into the mud of afflictions, With the great, self-arisen samadhi, Cut the thread of continuity without substance! All sentient beings of samsara, With the uncorrected non-action, Cut the thread of continuity in nirvana! From the Root Tantra of the Great All-Good Samantabhadra, the Seventeenth Chapter, which teaches cutting. Vajrasattva then addressed the Bhagavan thus: Samsara itself is nirvana, Suffering itself is bliss. Unlearned qualities are exceedingly special, Untraced power is immeasurable, Unaccomplished siddhis are beyond words, Untaught dharma is inconceivable, The qualities of the Buddha are beyond words. Hearing this tantra is emptiness, Emptiness itself is this tantra. Whoever holds this tantra is Samantabhadra, Samantabhadra himself is this tantra. Remembering it in the mind is the heart of the Buddha, The heart of the Buddha is this tantra. Thus spoke Samantabhadra: Vajrasattva, you are excellent! Whoever holds the words of the Samantabhadra Tantra, Is embraced by the heart of the Buddha. The wise one who holds this tantra, Is the nature of all. Not subdued by antidotes, realized by the heart, This instruction is myself, Thus spoke Samantabhadra. Whoever wishes to realize anything by anything, Should look at this instruction. Without having spoken anything like that, Samantabhadra spoke thus: Attain the Dharmakaya of unobtainable attainment, Accomplish the fruit of unpracticed accomplishment, Become enlightened without searching for the nature. The Root Tantra of the Great All-Good Samantabhadra is complete. Asked of Garab Dorje. The Root Tantra of Condensed Instructions, Sealed with the unchanging nature of reality. I, a wandering young monk, guided, From Tibet to the land of India, After enduring eighteen hardships, Fifty-four Deu Shi appeared. Entrusted to the hands of the King of Instructions, The Indian scholar Shri Singha.
