When the degenerate age arrives, The teachings of the Buddha's body and speech decline, The blessings of the Sugata's words vanish, When the teachings of the mind flourish, At that time, my tantra will appear. When there is fighting around dwelling places, When great and powerful people cause strife, When monks become merchants, When knives are hidden under Dharma robes, When nuns raise young children, When great monks take young consorts, When great and powerful people administer poison, At that time, the king of tantras will appear. When there are no monks, no practitioners, wearing black clothes, When people make requests with shoes, When men engage in homosexual acts, When clothes are smeared with oil stains, When sons do not listen to their fathers, When people live by deception, When they have not separated from the five poisons (greed, hatred, ignorance, pride, and envy), When views are biased and attachments have not transformed, When yogis give teachings, When someone says, "I am the Buddha now," When Dzogchen flourishes as Dharma, When the teacher practices yoga, At that time, the king of tantras will appear. The blessings of the Sugata cannot be realized, The element of earth cannot produce gold, The treasure entrusted by the dakinis cannot be obtained, What beings trust cannot be found, At that time, the king of tantras will appear. Thus it is said. The nectar essence of the union of appearance and existence, The tantra that cuts off the beginning and end of samsara is complete.
