In the nature, awareness appears without a place. It is non-grasping and without the nature of appearance. Because it is separate from objects, it should not be grasped. The mind has no color or shape. The mind has no signs of male or female. It is not that it is completely nonexistent, but the stream of awareness definitely has no conceptualization. It is not nonexistent, but it appears everywhere. Although it appears, it has no such nature. Thus it was said. Instructions, from the latter part of the Tantra of the Various Wheels, the tenth chapter, the chapter on faith in combining meanings. Then again, the Teacher Garab Dorje spoke thus to the assembly including Manjushrimitra: Always being naked, swimming and bathing in the ocean, burning with fire, being moved by the wind, etc., are early signs of purifying signs. Dreaming of climbing stairs and trees, and climbing stupas, etc., are early signs of gaining a stable ground. Sitting on a throne and a wheel, riding a lion and an elephant, smiling images, the sound of musical instruments, hearing the roar of a lion, are signs of prophecy. When studying with someone who has signs, even if good dreams occur, one should not be happy or excited. Thus it was said. Instructions, from the latter part of the Tantra of the Various Wheels, the eleventh chapter, the chapter on dream signs of peaceful abiding. Then again, the Teacher Garab Dorje spoke thus to the assembly including Manjushrimitra: After destruction, when grasping at the appearance of mind, the heat of familiarity and stability is shaking, gaining heat, being stable, and the heat of outer, inner, and secret. Seeing specks of dust, stars, crescent moons, etc., letters, hand gestures, body, etc., seeing everything that is used, and seeing the birthplaces of fire, wind, and the five colors, etc., not feeling the breath moving, seeing everything that is used as illusion, great compassion arises in one's being, wherever one sees, wisdom arises. The signs of shaking, gaining heat, and being stable, even if they arise in sequence, there is also the arising of light, the smiling face of the deity, shaking, moving, light, lightness, no arising or ceasing in the elements, not feeling lice, disease, or enemies, falling asleep, cutting off, separating from the food of the elements, great compassion increases, attachment decreases, there is no partiality, the vows are great, there is also compassion for the lama and dharma brothers, not making distinctions of near and far to all beings, not hoping for results, etc., many phenomena arise. One should not be happy or excited.

Do not generate. Awaken self-benefit with the mudra of experience. Report to the Guru. Thus it was said. From the latter part of the Tantra of the Miscellaneous Collection of Instructions, the twelfth chapter, called "Signs of Obtaining Movement." Then the teacher Garab Dorje. To the retinue of Manjushrimitra and others, he said this: By the virtue of stable meditation. Obscurations are purified and accumulations increase, By meditation, all concepts are exhausted, When afflictions are exhausted, obscurations are purified. When awareness is workable, The five superknowledges and miracles are obtained. Ultimately, self-born wisdom arises. Thus it was said. From the latter part of the Tantra of the Miscellaneous Collection of Instructions, The thirteenth chapter, which shows the qualities of holding the mind. Then the teacher Garab Dorje. To the retinue of Manjushrimitra and others, he said this: To make the unheld mind held, To stabilize the held and establish confidence, To let go of the stabilized attainment, To turn consciousness away from objects, To taste the flavor of non-leakage, For the sake of dwelling without obstruction, Place it in the expanse without effort. Practice without self-grasping. Be mindful without change. Do not disturb the mind without attachment. Do not abandon it without practice. Untie the great knot of self-liberation. Bestow the sign with great wisdom. Thus it was said. From the latter part of the Tantra of the Miscellaneous Collection of Instructions, the fourteenth chapter, called "The Person Who Has Held the Mind Trains in Self-Born Wisdom." Then the teacher Garab Dorje. Understanding the intentions of the retinue of Manjushrimitra and others, he spoke this, which cuts through with view and loosens the knot of grasping: By the nature of the power of awareness. Appearance and existence, awareness dawns as the sun's rays. By the nature of revealing the hidden. Know that memories and thoughts self-arise as the Dharmakaya. On whatever spontaneously arises from the great transparent wisdom. Seal it with emptiness, without attachment. By the meeting of the self-illuminating Dharmakaya. There is no doubt that it is primordially accomplished. Undifferentiated, self-born, self-illuminating it is. By the great spontaneously accomplished abiding. Self-appearance is undifferentiated, free from concepts. On this, there is no grasping or speculation. Naturally free from acceptance and rejection, discrimination. The meaning of without trace.
