From the Tantra of the Wisdom Realm: The chapter on explaining the container and its contents, the second chapter. Then, Vajrasattva, in order to benefit the assembled retinue, asked the King of All-Knowing Dharma about the definitive meaning, saying: Among the three bases from which all dharmas arise, what creates the basis of samsara? How do the six realms become deluded in this way? Please explain the distinctions of meaning. Having heard this request, the King of All-Knowing spoke: I will explain the definitive distinctions of meaning, so listen now, you faithful retinue. The basis of samsara is the unindicated consciousness, the display of the power of the natural body. In what is there no conceptualization, and the meaning is already known? Consciousness, self-appearing, seeks with defilements. Because the cause of ignorance is uncertain, the basis of consciousness is called unindicated. Also, listen to the essence of the assembly: the body of natural essence and the two, the basis of consciousness and the unindicated, have a temporary connection but no ultimate end. Without distinction between distraction and non-distraction, it remains in a state of bewilderment and confusion. Self-arisen consciousness changes according to conditions, therefore it is called unindicated. The basis is of remembering and not remembering, because the mind does not enter, it does not know the meaning. The basis of ignorance is unindicated, therefore it is called the basis of samsara. The cause of the mind's arising, gradual decline, and reversal, although there is memory only in a daze, in reality it does not understand, only that. Because it is the basis for the arising of ignorance, from that the first samsara arises. From the Tantra of the Wisdom Realm of Samantabhadra: The chapter on the unindicated consciousness basis of samsara, the third chapter. Then, to the assembled retinue, the King of All-Knowing Dharma explained the manner in which the six realms are deluded, saying: First, in the bardo of samsara and nirvana, on the unindicated consciousness basis, the three co-emergent with ignorance, the cause and its immediate successor gather, and the alaya of the mind ripens. From that, the three kinds of conceptualization arise, and with the two conditions of object and self, the alaya of the habitual body arises. Second, habits ripen into five. Also, listen to the essence of the assembly. With the nine kinds, such as the basis of delusion, the fault of not reversing that delusion is that the action of distraction is practiced and death occurs. At that time, the elements gradually dissolve, the breath is blocked and the inner and outer are cut off, and under the power of attachment, the last testament is forgotten. The suffering of samsara is inconceivable. From the Wisdom Realm of Samantabhadra
