In Sanskrit: Bodhicitta Mahaparakrama Tantra. In Tibetan: The Great Effort of the Bodhicitta Tantra. Homage to glorious Samantabhadra. Thus I have heard. At one time, the Tathagata, the perfectly complete Buddha, the essence of great permanence, enjoying the suchness of all abodes, the self-nature of all things, perfectly pure, spontaneously accomplished as one, whose self is not separate, not different, without distinction, suchness; the essence of great joy-giving Bodhi, wherever it is, is always thus. Then, the perfect enjoyment of great enjoyment is like the face of a jewel, extremely bright, holding it like a mirror of a good staff, the supreme one who has mastery over all enjoyments, is in the palace of the chief. He dwells in the manner of a jewel, and gathers the thoughts of all. Then, the Bhagavan, the glorious Vajrasattva, the great being, and the lotus-holders and others, with incense and seductive women and other offerings, extensively offered, and praised with extremely sweet voices. Then, after circumambulating three times to the right, the Bhagavan, the glorious Samantabhadra, who has mastered all actions, knelt on the ground before him and sat down. After sitting, the Bhagavan, the glorious Samantabhadra, did not speak, but smiled. Then, standing up before the Bhagavan, the glorious great Samantabhadra, in order to ask the Bhagavan about the suchness of all dharmas, the meaning of emptiness of self-nature, he said this: Effortless exertion, the fruit of the path of selflessness, uncreated self-nature, the very nature of secrecy, non-dual exertion, pure view and conduct, please explain, O Bhagavan. Thus he asked. Then, the Bhagavan, the glorious Samantabhadra, absorbed Vajrasattva and others, together with all the offerings, into his own body. Then, the Bhagavan, the glorious Samantabhadra, entered into the samadhi of non-dual purity. As soon as he entered, he emanated the retinue from his body. Then, they obtained
