The Root Tantra of the Greatly Excellent Jewel Lamp of View. In Sanskrit: Dṛṣṭi-mahā-ni-yama-ratna-dīpa-mūla-tantra. In Tibetan: The Root Tantra of the Greatly Excellent Jewel Lamp of View. Homage to the Great Secret Lord who is nameless and beyond all limits. Thus have I heard at one time: The Unborn, Uncreated, Greatly Equal; the Dharmadhatu, boundless and without partiality; from the place beyond the name of self-nature, the essence, self-arisen, beyond mind, the teacher, the Great Secret Lord, surrounded by the three forms of his own self-nature retinue, at a time free from the partiality of beginning, middle, and end, showing all appearances as beyond mind, this is the teaching of the nameless liberation from extremes. At that time, From within the retinue, the self-illuminating Mind Hero Vajra asked the teacher: Emaho, Teacher, Great Lord of Secrets! This self-nature of the nameless, liberation from extremes, beyond mind, for the sake of those who have not realized it, who are bound by dualistic clinging and philosophical tenets, for the sake of the liberation in its own place of the clinging to extremes that are mentally fabricated, what is the most excellent essence of the meaning of the self-nature that is recited for the phenomena of cause and effect? How are the extremes of clinging to it liberated? Thus he asked. From the Root Tantra of the Greatly Excellent Jewel Lamp of View, the first chapter, the Introduction. Then, the Teacher, the Great Lord of Secrets, entered into the samadhi called "All phenomena arise from the Dharmadhatu and are liberated in their own place in the Dharmadhatu." Then, the self-illuminating Mind Hero Vajra asked: Before the Unborn, Uncreated, the very beginning, what is the essence of the meaning of the nameless? Thus he asked. The Great Secret Lord Teacher arose from that samadhi and spoke: Before the Unborn, Uncreated, the very beginning, the nature of Mind, the vast expanse, the reality of meaning is: the nameless, unknowing, unthinking, the treasury of all arising; on the self-nature of the essence of the meaning of the empty limit, there is no ignorance or wisdom, confusion or non-confusion. From emptiness arises all kinds of confusion and thoughts, and self-liberation in the place of arising is self-appearance, which is wisdom. In the essence, the nature of the ground, there is no distinction. The essence is free from all beginnings and ends, good and evil, and there is not even a name for extremes, center, partiality, acceptance, and rejection. Just as it is, there is nothing, unmoved from the Dharmadhatu, yet how does self-nature appear clearly? The root of all phenomena

The mind of enlightenment, without characteristics. A great treasury from which inexhaustible things arise from nothingness. Its nature is primordially unconditioned, its depths and boundaries are limitless. Its essence is not anything, it transcends the intellect. Its qualities are diverse, appearing in countless ways. The abiding reality is vast and profound, in the essence of meaning. Phenomena and the nature of phenomena are inseparable, it is the state of equality. The extremes of truth, falsehood, and delusion are self-liberated, there is no desire. Clear and pure This utterly transparent Jewel Lamp. Its essence is not established as anything, like the sky. It does not arise from causes, so it never comes into being or ceases. Buddhas and sentient beings are undifferentiated, their essence is one. This one cannot be pointed out, it is the essence of the essence itself. It is liberated from the extremes of appearance and emptiness, permanence and annihilation. It is free from the object of abandonment, the antidote, what to take, what to reject, and fixation. The deluded thoughts of the six classes of sentient beings, And the wisdom intention of the Buddhas of the three times, Are equal in the essence of the nameless, in the essence of meaning. Equality and inequality cannot be expressed. The very existence or non-existence of expression is free from depths and boundaries. In the bardo of unborn and uncreated nature, The essence of mind abides like the sky and a rainbow. Unadulterated as it is, it is the basis of all essences. Unseparated and undivided, it is the place without coming or going. It possesses the reality of no knowing, no moving, no experiencing, no awareness. Unborn, unsought, there is no object of focus. Effortless, without attachment, in a state of bliss. Immutable, self-abiding, vast expanse, beyond words. Thus it is said. From the Root Tantra of the Jewel Lamp, the Second Chapter, Establishing the Nature of Reality. Then, the self-illuminating Mind Hero Vajra, Asked the Teacher, the Lord of Secrets, who transcends the intellect: "Since the nature of reality abides in such a way, How do these sentient beings of the six realms become deluded? What is the essence of delusion? What is the manner of delusion? What are its faults? Please bestow your teachings!" Having asked thus, the Teacher, the Lord of Secrets of Meaning, replied: "The manner of delusion from the state of equality of reality is: From the state of emptiness, the moving wind stirs. From that, when awareness arises in its own place, One experiences the thought, 'Is it or is it not?' The desire that thinks makes it clear in the mind. When the clarity appears as five colors, Because that object of light is the condition, From nothing, something arises, all sentient beings of the six realms, Are deluded, not knowing their own nature, the essence of the nameless. For example, before a blind person, An image appears. Like the appearance of existence where there is none, like the yellowness of a conch shell. The basis of all
