So, what is "Sal"? It is said in 'Da'ka Yeshe: "There is no mind on the mind, the nature of the mind is luminosity." Therefore, when the mind is free from all conceptual thoughts and the self-nature or reality of the mind itself is manifested, it is luminosity. All conceptual thoughts are connected with objects, and conceptual thought without an object is impossible, so it appears as both object and subject. Because of attachment to this, grasping it as a sign and adding imputations, both of these are also conceptual thoughts. These conceptual thoughts are also not truly established by their own nature. That is, the meaning of "no mind on the mind" is that, for the nature of mind itself, which is empty and clear, how the deluded dualistic mind grasps it, it is not established, and this is called the dharmata or reality or emptiness of all phenomena. Such emptiness, without being interrupted by the duality of grasper and grasped, is directly realized by the wisdom of awareness, and this is the nature of Vajrasattva, the supreme luminosity. What is the nature of such true emptiness, the dharmadhatu, and how does the luminous wisdom of the mind equally unite? As long as one has not attained the level of the noble ones, one is still connected with dualistic appearances, and therefore unites equally in object and subject. In the samadhi of the noble ones, in the state of non-conceptualization, free from all conceptual thoughts of dualistic appearance, like salt dissolving in water, in the state of non-duality, union, beyond mind, free from elaboration, there is no separation or it becomes one taste and unites equally. What is the nature of that Vajrasattva? As it is said: Vajra is explained as emptiness, mind is great wisdom. Therefore, the emptiness of the dharmadhatu is Vajra, and the wisdom of awareness is Mind. The union of these two is Vajrasattva. Such wisdom is also Samantabhadra, as it is said: Completely clearing the net of conceptualization, possessing a profound and vast body, the rays of light of Samantabhadra, radiate from everywhere, I prostrate to you. Therefore, the luminosity of the mind, free from all movement of conceptual thought, is unchanging in every way and is the nature of radiating the light of benefit and happiness, therefore it is Samantabhadra.

It is also the Lama of true meaning. As it is said: Once you realize your own mind as the Lama, the empowerment of the Buddhas of the three times is complete. Holding onto lineage is conceptual thought. Therefore, the intention of the luminosity of mind itself is self-born wisdom. If it relies on external conditions, it cannot be realized. Therefore, the inner self-aware Lama, in a way that cannot be pointed out, symbolizes the inseparability of the Lama and the instructions, hence it is the Lama. So, Samantabhadra is the Dharmakaya Samantabhadra, which is widely known and established. Vajrasattva is the Sambhogakaya deity appearing with the forms of marks and examples, faces and hands. The Lama is the Nirmanakaya appearing to impure beings to be tamed. How are these three the one taste of the Samadhi wisdom of a yogi? It is definitely so. The Samadhi wisdom of a yogi, which is one and free from elaboration, itself becomes the basis for the ocean-like qualities of the result, and is therefore called the Dharmakaya. From the aspect of qualities being spontaneously accomplished, it is the Sambhogakaya. The power of compassion without interruption is the Nirmanakaya. These three merge into one bindu of awareness and wisdom, so for a yogi of essential meaning, there are no deities or Lamas outside. Therefore, transforming the self-born wisdom, which is originally free from the signs of faces and hands, into the form of marks and examples, faces and hands, and meditating on it, is the skillful means of Secret Mantra Vajrayana. As it says in the Tantra: Means is the totality of bliss, therefore it is called Mandala Wheel. This was spoken by Vajradhara. In essence, knowing that deities and Lamas do not exist apart from one's own mind is not only true at the time of realization, but it is also a crucial point that must be understood before practicing the path. If the Lama is grasped as external, it will be obscured by the clouds of attachment and aversion. If the Yidam is grasped as external, one will be deceived by the demons of hope and fear, and all practices of the Vajrayana path will become non-paths. When the deity and the Lama are inseparable, and all is complete in the luminous wisdom intention of the one bindu of awareness, at the moment of manifesting the dissolution of all conceptual thoughts such as death into the Dharmadhatu, then the cause of death is abandoned.
