Self and, Mahayana two. Hinayana has two, namely Shravaka and, Pratyekabuddha. Shravaka has two, namely Sarvastivada and, Sautrantika. First, Sarvastivada is, after the Teacher's Nirvana, Arhats such as Bhadanta Ghosa and others, seven hundred people composed the treatise called "Abhidharma Mahavibhasha Shastra," and those who follow it. Sautrantika is, only the sutras spoken by the Buddha are taken as valid, and the treatises are not taken as valid, therefore it is called Sautrantika. Among them, the view of Sarvastivada is, the distinction between conventional and ultimate. For example, like a yak's tail and a peacock's feather, knowing the continuous collection as conventional, and the ultimate is considered to be minute particles with parts, scattered and like a water bottle. It is believed that the conventional of knowing the continuous, the present moment is the ultimate, therefore, among the two kinds of selflessness here, one knows the selflessness of the person, but does not know the selflessness of the dharma. The entrance is, entering and returning to the Four Noble Truths, abandoning the four hundred and fourteen to be abandoned by the seeing path and, the meditation path of the three realms, manifesting the eight exhaustions and the supreme wisdom of non-birth, and then believing in liberation. Second, Shravaka Sautrantika is, the selflessness of the person is recognized as in Sarvastivada, but the self of the dharma recognizes minute particles with parts, and knowing the nature of the five bases of knowledge, it is superior to Sarvastivada. They also enter and return to the Four Noble Truths, abandoning subtle and coarse afflictions eighty-eight kinds, and believe in realizing supreme wisdom. Both strive to practice the five paths of accumulation, application, seeing, meditation, and no more learning, and the antidotes to the three poisons. For greed, meditate on the eight impure substances, skeletons. For hatred, meditate on loving-kindness. For ignorance, meditate on the twelve links of dependent origination, etc. The fruit is the four fruits such as Arhat, and the inner divisions are eight such as entering the stream, that is, obtaining the eight stages of the great man. The second Hinayana Pratyekabuddha has two types: like a rhinoceros horn and, like a flock. The definition is: one wants to become a Buddha alone. The first one is like a rhinoceros horn: it is called a rhinoceros horn because it lives alone. They condense all the dharmas summarized by the Four Noble Truths into the twelve links of dependent origination, from ignorance to old age and death.

Meditating, wanting to abandon all the coarse or subtle increasing afflictions of the three realms. The method of meditating on the twelve links of dependent origination in the forward order is from ignorance to action, from action to consciousness, and so on, up to old age and death. The view is that on the basis of the selflessness of the person, one takes a portion of the selflessness of phenomena, such as the object taken, both particulate and non-particulate atoms do not exist, realizing that it is without essence and unborn. The second is like a rainbow, many appearing simultaneously. By this, one also meditates on all the dharmas included in the Four Noble Truths, the twelve links of dependent origination in reverse order, goes to the charnel ground, and examines where this corpse came from, from death, from old age, etc., until tracing back to ignorance. By meditating in this way, one realizes the two selflessnesses, half as before, and by meditating on the five paths, one manifests the exhaustion and non-arising of enlightenment. Both schools only have nominal dharmas, and do not speak of manifest dharmas. Second, how is the Great Vehicle superior to the Hearers and Solitary Realizers? It is superior by the altruistic mind of enlightenment. Among them, there are also two types of Mind-Only: appearance-aspects are true and appearance-aspects are false. Those who hold that appearance-aspects are true believe that what appears as an object is merely the inner consciousness appearing outward. If one differentiates within that, there are three views: that the number of consciousnesses is equal to the number of names, that appearance and consciousness are like an egg and its shell, and that appearance and consciousness are diverse and non-dual. The first is that when hearing a sound, only one consciousness that grasps the sound arises, and the consciousness that grasps forms and so on does not arise. Because for any object that is entered, no other consciousness arises other than that consciousness, so it is believed that there are as many consciousnesses as there are names. The second, believing that it is like cracking an egg, believes that appearance and consciousness, object and subject, appear in one mind. The third, diverse and non-dual, later, although the appearance of the object appears in many ways, the inner grasping consciousness knows with one consciousness, like when a monkey dimly watches in a room with four windows, one monkey appears as many, it is believed that the five sense consciousnesses cognize the object with one consciousness. The second, those who hold that appearance-aspects are false, the habitual tendencies of consciousness appearing as mistaken appearances of external objects are false, and the consciousness that measures it is also false, so both the object to be measured and the consciousness
