Homage, the commitment to compose, and three things. First, the explanation of the title, divided into two: the purpose and the meaning of the words. First, the purpose: In general, the necessity of naming all knowable things is, as it is said: "If names were not given, all the world would become ignorant. Therefore, the Protector, with skillful means, gave names to all things." Thus. Specifically, the necessity of naming treatises is that, for those of superior faculties, just as a doctor examines the pulse and knows all the diseases of the body from head to toe, relying on the meaning of the name, one can understand the entire meaning of the text from beginning to end. For those of intermediate faculties, it is like a soldier looking at the markings on an arrow, knowing which direction it belongs to. For those of inferior faculties, it is like the label on a medicine, understanding the relationship between the name and the meaning, making it easy to find scriptures, and so on, there is such a necessity. Second, the meaning of the words, divided into three: explaining the name according to the Chinese language, explaining it according to the Tibetan language, and combining the two languages to explain the meaning of the name. First, the necessity of explaining according to the Chinese language is that, in general, during the early dissemination period, the scriptures translated by the Panditas and translators from the holy land of India, began with Sanskrit, which is a reason to believe that the scriptures are a reliable source. Moreover, it also shows that the Tibetan treatises are based on those original Indian scriptures. And, it shows that the author is not ignorant of grammar. Finally, in order to establish the auspicious connection of teaching the Dharma in the respective languages of beings, such as Sanskrit (Sanskrit Devanagari: saṃskṛta, Sanskrit Romanization: saṃskṛta, Chinese literal meaning: perfected language), the language of the gods, etc., after the Buddha attained enlightenment, there are these three necessities. Second, the meaning of the words is, in Sanskrit, etc. In general, this is a branch of explaining the scriptures.
