If the objects of focus are not practiced, then all virtues will be dominated by appearances, just like causing only samsara. Therefore, those so-called profound instructions such as mantras should be put aside, and first, renunciation and Bodhicitta should be experienced. Once these are born, then all virtues will involuntarily become the cause of liberation and omniscience, so not valuing the cultivation of these is not understanding the essence of the path at all, (the master) said. In this way, first maturing the mindstream through these two, and then liberating it, is to first rely on mindfulness in a state of non-conceptualization, and seek a stable abiding (shamatha) that can be integrated with the activities of walking, standing, sitting, and lying down. Then, vipassanā (insight meditation) must be practiced. If vipassanā is practiced before finding a place of mental stability, it will be interrupted and no experience will arise. Even if a place of stability is found, if there is no firm understanding of selflessness through the power of pure learning, there will be no opportunity for pure vipassanā experience to arise. Therefore, once a place of stability is found, then strive to generate the experience of vipassanā. This is how it is: Even if one cultivates by determining that other phenomena also lack inherent existence, experience may arise. However, the key is to first search for the selflessness of the person through the sevenfold analysis, and in the state of not finding a self, maintain mindfulness. When distracted, examine with reason as before, and abide in the state of not finding a self. Repeat this about twelve times for each state, because if there are too many repetitions, there will be more distraction and no experience will arise. Therefore, the current practitioners of instructions, according to their wishes, leave the mind in a state of non-conceptualization, and then mix the current state with the state of not establishing any terms for the nature of reality, and abide without any mental effort. With this, apart from shamatha, it is impossible for the experience of vipassanā to arise, (the master) said. Therefore, after finding stability, if one does not do the analytical meditation explained in the characteristic vehicle (referring to Sautrantika and Chittamatra), one will not have experience of the view, so analytical meditation must be done. Analytical meditation is the same as before, but it is not like some people who constantly think. One cannot cultivate the view without seeking a place of stability. In this way, the current way of cultivating stability is not at all the essence of the path, (the master) said. These are very similar to our (Gelug) views, so I mentioned them briefly, hoping to generate a firm understanding. My idea is the Prasangika view of Tsongkhapa, that nothing exists. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is acceptable if there is no distinction between meditation and view because there is no focus on an object during meditation. However, it is wrong to think that this method of meditation does not lead to the essence of the path of Svatantrika. If one does so according to the Prasangika system, it will become meditating on Shamatha (calm abiding), but to meditate on Vipassanā (insight), one must necessarily do analytical meditation. In short, it is wrong to think that the nature of things is nothing at all, and that one does not grasp anything in the mind, are in agreement. Furthermore, it is a mistake to take the scriptures and tantras that explain 'not meditating on anything' as meditating on the nature of reality as a basis for confusion, and to mistake 'not focusing on anything' as meditation that blocks conceptual thought, as meditating on the nature of reality. Because, saying that meditating on 'not focusing on anything' is meditating on the nature of reality, and praising it immeasurably, refers to the Samadhi of the noble ones, which is beyond mere conceptual thought, and is the inseparability of non-conceptual ultimate truth and wisdom. It is impossible for ordinary beings to unite wisdom and reality in non-conceptual ultimate truth. Furthermore, for ordinary beings, by blocking the conceptual thought of the hidden nature of reality, one cannot make it an object, because doing so would lead to the manifestation of reality. Therefore, non-conceptual reality is unattainable for ordinary beings, it belongs to the realm of the noble ones. The method of entering this state is to engage in analytical meditation by clinging to the conceptual ultimate truth, such as dependent origination and emptiness of inherent existence, as the nature of reality, and thus attain the non-conceptual ultimate truth. Therefore, not only in meditation, but even when determining through view, if one aims for the non-conceptual ultimate truth, then who will speak, who will listen, and who will understand? However, one must also seek the place of understanding of the view. If one does not do that, where will the understanding of the view come from? This is just one example, and there are countless similar situations. Therefore, for the great Prasangika masters, in Samadhi, all clinging is dissolved, so there is no difference between Samadhi and non-conceptual wisdom. When they arise from Samadhi, dependent origination is like an image, and the conceptual ultimate truth and undeniable truth will appear as deniable. Therefore, even ordinary Prasangikas must necessarily regard dependent origination, which is empty of inherent existence, as an image, as part of reality. Even if one accepts this, it will not be a problem for the time being, because you cannot deny it. If you want to refute the other person's point of view, you must examine the other person's thoughts, and then accept the views that are consistent with the other person's logic and views, in order to refute the other person's arguments. For all schools of thought, including the Charvakas, there is no clear boundary as to which views should be accepted and which should not.
