Collected Teachings of Master Tsongkhapa JTs129 The Protective Instructions of the Four-Syllable Mantra, the Union of the Three Roots and Yamantaka, and the Union of the Root and Yamantaka. The Protective Instructions of the Four-Syllable Mantra, the Union of the Three Roots and Yamantaka, and the Union of the Root and Yamantaka. The Protective Instructions of the Four-Syllable Mantra, the Union of the Three Roots and Yamantaka. Homage to Vajrabhairava). I prostrate with great reverence and take refuge in the feet of the Lama and the glorious Vajrabhairava, who are indivisible. The protection of the four-syllable mantra: First, rise with the yoga of rising, and then do this: In the space in front, on a lotus, sun, and buffalo seat, visualize a hooked knife arising from Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ་,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Hūṃ), marked with Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ་,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Hūṃ), which completely transforms into the glorious Vajrabhairava, with a red body, one face, and two arms. The right hand raises a sword to the sky, the left hand makes a threatening gesture at the heart, with a buffalo face, possessing three red and round eyes, sitting with the right leg bent and the left leg extended, adorned with bone ornaments, with reddish-brown hair standing on end, and a red lingam erect. Visualize a white lotus with four petals at his heart. In the center of the lotus, visualize Vairochana. On the eastern petal, visualize Akshobhya, and so on. Think that you remain in an ordinary state, inhale the deity through your nostrils, pass through the shape of your body, and dwell in the heart of Vairochana. Actually say, 'E Sa Bhyo Va Lok Srung,' and believe that you are being protected by the deity. Homage to Vajrabhairava). I prostrate to the Lama and the assembly of deities of glorious Vajrabhairava. The extremely profound instruction spoken by the Lord Lama Chökyi Gyalpo Tsongkhapa himself. If there is a fierce harm from evil spirits, especially if there is a fierce curse or black magic from others, then there is a unique instruction to reverse it: Meditate on the yoga of Yamantaka yourself, develop a very firm pride, face southwest, wear the outer garment inside out and upside down, place the two shoes on the right and left shoulders with the soles of the shoes facing forward and the heels facing back, spread the hat on the ground, and then draw a triangular pit on the hat with the big toes, with the tip facing outward. Then sit on the hat spread on the ground in a kneeling position. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sitting in these three states, visualize the triangular homa (fire offering) pit in front as vast and wide, extremely deep, reaching the powerful golden ground. Visualize that within the homa pit, the water of desire churns, the fire of hatred blazes, the smoke of ignorance gathers, and the fog of disease thickens. Imagine that as soon as enemies and obstacles fall into it, they become intoxicated in mind, lose their memory, and their bodies break apart. Within such a homa pit, visualize the hosts of flesh-eating Yama (Lord of Death) and others, terrifying with gaping mouths, extremely wrathful, countless in number, facing you. Then, with the arrogance of being Yama, the Lord of Death, firmly established, remain in a wrathful state of mind. From the seed syllable in your heart, emanate countless wrathful Yamas, Lords of Death, holding lassos and iron hooks. Visualize the forms of enemies and obstacles, and just as they appear, hook them from the heart with iron hooks, bind them from the throat with lassos, and place them on the wind mandala. Visualize the wrathful Yamas striking from behind, and drawing them in with terrifying sounds. Bind the iron hook mudra (hand gesture), and recite 'ཨཾ་ཀུ་ཤ་ཛཿ' (Tibetan), 'अंकुश ज:' (Sanskrit Devanagari), 'aṅkuśa jaḥ' (Sanskrit Romanization), 'Hook Jaḥ' (Literal Chinese meaning) three or seven times, and repeatedly and forcefully draw them in. By drawing them in so forcefully, firmly believe that the enemies have been truly hooked. Whatever the enemies and obstacles may be, 11-31-3a Reverse their forms, and in sequence, offer them into the mouths of the Yamas in the homa pit, merge them into your mala (rosary), or place them into the homa pit and merge them there, doing these three actions. Then, visualize the ring finger of your right hand as a silver stake, and the thumb as a golden axe. With the axe, cut off the necks of all the enemies and obstacles you are targeting, and throw them into the homa pit. Visualize the Yamas in the homa pit swallowing them with a gulping sound. Hang the mala on the ring finger of your right hand, and cut off the beads with your thumb, reciting 'ཨེས་བྷྱོ་བཟློག' (Tibetan). With each bead cast off, recite a mantra and perform a visualization simultaneously. Initially, in your room, transform your face into a form with the right side white, the left side red, and the middle black, or throw a small piece of black charcoal, a piece of guggul incense, or a piece of blacksmith's coal into water, reciting 'ཧྲཱིཿཥྚྲཱིཿ' (Tibetan), and many other mantras of praise. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
