Ananda, I should have great compassion for this woman, and generate faith and reverence for her. I too shall practice the conduct that my son practices, and aspire to attain that unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Asked: World Honored One, what is the reason that she is so poor? The World Honored One replied: Ananda, when practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, when the World Honored One, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, renounced in the teachings of Buddha Kashyapa, Ananda, this woman was my mother. She did not let me go, therefore I fasted for one meal. Afterwards, she let me go because of desire. Ananda, it is because of the ripening of that karma that she is so poor. Ananda, this is the last of her poverty. Ananda, after this woman dies, she will be free from attachment to the female organ, and in the Buddha land of the World Honored One Perfectly Complete Buddha Amitabha, the Sukhavati world, she will obtain the male organ. Having been born there, she will make offerings to countless, immeasurable, and inconceivable Buddhas, World Honored Ones. She will lead countless, immeasurable, and inconceivable sentient beings into Bodhi. She will ripen countless, immeasurable, and inconceivable sentient beings on the path to Bodhi. She will establish countless, immeasurable, and inconceivable sentient beings on the path to Bodhi. Having established countless, immeasurable, and inconceivable sentient beings on the path to Bodhi, after sixty-eight hundred thousand kalpas, in this very three-thousand-great-thousand world realm, she will become a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, named Bodhi Branch Flower. Ananda, just as the enjoyment and use of the gods of the Thirty-Three Heavens, so too will the enjoyment and use of the sentient beings of that Buddha land be the same. The World Honored One spoke thus, the Sugata.

萨布如是说后，导师又说了这样的话：‘在我面前合掌的这位，观世音，你看看这位老妇人，她将成为人中之圣佛，名为菩提支花。她将舍弃这女人的身份，前往极乐世界。亲近供养胜者无量寿后，将成为三界无与伦比的胜者佛。在其他世界中，所有居住的大仙，行持世间利益者，亲近供养那些引导者后，此人将成为无与伦比的人中之尊佛。从他们那里听闻所有佛法后，以清净的意念如是修行。从不可动摇的菩提心之处，将无量众生与佛法相连。那时，任何卑劣者，各种丑陋的身体和颜色，愚痴和跛子，以及瞎子，手残和麻风病人，都不会出现。日月火电和宝物等，那些光芒在那时都不会出现。引导者菩提支花，其佛的光芒将普遍照耀一切。三十三天诸天神，其水纹标志和颜色如何，具有那样自性的人们，那时将充满无与伦比的净土。那里没有魔，也没有魔的眷属，没有魔女，也没有魔的侍从。善逝讲法之时，那里不会听到外道的名字。善逝讲法之时，那时不会听到饿鬼、畜生的出生之处，以及地狱恶趣的名字。那里也不会听到女人的名字。如同这是声闻缘觉的乘，那时没有乘的分别安立。一切都具有圆满的菩提心，他们安住于慈爱且具有悲悯心。那里的所有人总是化生，从胎中解脱。具有忆念出生的殊胜智慧，且是智者，听闻善说后能忆持。净土的布局将如何出现，在此用劫来说其功德，也如同大海中的一滴水，甚至连比喻都无法说尽。’

After Sapha spoke thus, the Teacher further uttered these words: 'Avalokiteshvara, look at this old woman who is holding her palms together in front of me. She will become a Buddha, a noble being among humans, named Bodhi Branch Flower. She will abandon this female form and go to the realm of Sukhavati. After attending to and honoring the Victorious Amitayus, she will become an unparalleled Victorious Buddha in the three realms. In other world realms, all the great sages who reside and work for the benefit of the world, after attending to and honoring those guides, this person will become an unparalleled supreme Buddha among humans. After hearing all the Dharma from them, she will practice accordingly with a pure mind. From the immovable place of the supreme Bodhicitta, she will connect countless sentient beings with the Dharma. At that time, any inferior beings, various ugly bodies and colors, the foolish and the lame, as well as the blind, the crippled, and the lepers, will not appear. The light of the sun, moon, fire, lightning, and jewels will not appear at that time. The light of the Guide Bodhi Branch Flower, the Buddha, will universally illuminate everything. The thirty-three supreme gods, whatever the marks and colors of their water patterns, people with such a nature will fill the unparalleled pure land at that time. There will be no demons there, nor any retinue of demons, no demonesses, nor any demon attendants. When the Sugata teaches the Dharma, the name of heretics will not be heard there. When the Sugata teaches the Dharma, at that time the names of the birthplaces of pretas and animals, as well as the hells and evil realms, will not be heard. The name of women will not be heard there either. Just as this is the vehicle of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, at that time there will be no separate establishment of vehicles. All will possess perfect Bodhicitta, they will abide in loving-kindness and compassion. All the people in that field will always be born miraculously, liberated from the womb. They will possess excellent wisdom of remembering birth and will be wise, able to remember what they have heard after hearing the well-spoken words. How the arrangement of the pure land will appear, even if its qualities are spoken of for eons, it would be like a drop of water from the ocean, not even a simile can fully express it.'

After the Blessed One had spoken thus, the venerable Ānanda, the old woman, those Bodhisattvas, those monks, and the world with gods, humans, asuras and gandharvas rejoiced and highly praised what the Blessed One had said. The Mahāyāna Sūtra called "The Questions of the Noble Old Woman" is complete. It was translated and definitively revised by the Indian Abbot Jinamitra, Dānaśīla, and the reviser, the translator, the venerable Yeshe De. Mangalam!
