In Sanskrit: Ārya Mahālalitaparipṛcchānāma Mahāyāna Sūtra. In Tibetan: The Mahāyāna Sūtra Called The Questions of the Noble Old Woman. Homage to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Thus have I heard. At one time, the Blessed One was traveling in the country of Vṛji, wandering from place to place, together with a great community of monks consisting of two hundred and fifty monks, and a great many Bodhisattvas, great beings. Together they went to the great city of Vaiśālī. At that time, there was an old woman in the city, very old and frail, who was one hundred and twenty years old. She was gathering grass in a monastery. That woman saw the Blessed One, who was beautiful, inspiring faith, with subdued senses, a tamed mind, having attained the supreme state of peace, concealing his faults, clear and bright like a lake, without turbidity, manifestly sublime like a golden pillar, radiant, splendid, and adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being, coming from afar. Having seen him, her mind was filled with faith. With a mind of faith, she went to where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, she bowed her head at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and then sat down on one side. That woman, in the presence of the Blessed One, folded her palms and prostrated, and said to the Blessed One: \"Blessed One, from where does birth come? From where does aging come, and where does it go? Blessed One, from where does sickness come? From where does death come, and where does it go? Blessed One, from where does form come? Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, from where do they come, and where do they go? Blessed One, from where does the earth element come? The water element, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and the consciousness element, from where do they come, and where do they go? Blessed One, from where does the eye come? The ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, from where do they come, and where do they go?\" The Blessed One spoke" } ] ============================================================

He taught: Sister, birth does not come from anywhere, old age does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere. Sister, sickness does not come from anywhere, death does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere. Sister, form does not come from anywhere, nor do feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness come from anywhere, nor do they go anywhere. Sister, the earth element does not come from anywhere, nor do the water element, fire element, wind element, space element, and consciousness element come from anywhere, nor do they go anywhere. Sister, the eye does not come from anywhere, nor do the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind come from anywhere, nor do they go anywhere. Sister, for example, relying on a fire drill and a fire mat, and also relying on the effort of the person who generates it, fire arises. That fire, having burned the wood and fuel, becomes causeless and extinguished. Sister, what do you think? Where does that fire come from, and where does it go? She replied: Blessed One, that fire arises due to the power of aggregation, and it ceases and extinguishes due to the separation of aggregation. He taught: Sister, likewise, all phenomena arise due to the power of aggregation, and they cease due to the separation of aggregation. Therefore, no phenomenon comes from anywhere or goes anywhere. Sister, for example, relying on the eye and form, eye consciousness arises, but that eye consciousness has no generator, no cessation, nothing is accumulated, nor does it come or go from any aggregate. Conditioned by eye consciousness, karma is manifestly accumulated, and then in the three realms, the fruit is shown near by the three fruits, but that fruit is also empty, without coming, without going, not generated by anyone, not stopped by anyone. Sister, all phenomena are naturally ceased. Similarly, relying on the ear and sound, the nose and smell, the tongue and taste, the body and touch, the mind and phenomena, mind consciousness arises, but that mind consciousness has no generator, no cessation, nothing is accumulated, nor does it come or go from any aggregate. Conditioned by mind consciousness, karma is manifestly accumulated, and then in the three realms,
