At the time of this person's death, their mind will not be confused or inverted, and they will be able to be reborn in Amitabha Buddha's Land of Ultimate Bliss. This practice of holding the name of the Buddha, passed down through countless generations, is the wonderful Dharma personally proclaimed by the Buddha's golden mouth. An ancient master said, 'The principles of contemplation are subtle, and the minds of sentient beings are mixed and confused. Contemplation with a confused mind is difficult to achieve. The Great Sage, out of compassion, directly advises to single-mindedly hold the name.' This is because reciting the name is easy, and continuous recitation leads to rebirth. This elucidates the merit of holding the name of the Buddha, which is essential for rebirth in the Pure Land. If one holds the name and deeply understands the true nature of reality, then it has the same merit as wondrous contemplation, and rebirth in the highest grade is certain. The present Buddha's disciples, as mentioned in the previous chapter on repentance, the two vehicles of saints (Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas), Bodhisattvas with perfect minds, and even those at the stage of near-perfect enlightenment, still need to repent. Since they all need to repent, shouldn't they all seek rebirth in the Pure Land? How much more so should those who are ordinary beings and in the stage of learning? I now, on behalf of all the disciples in the six realms present here, all single-mindedly recite the name of the Buddha, seeking rebirth in the Pure Land. May the Buddha be compassionate and especially extend grace and salvation.", "Universally Encouraging Recitation of the Buddha's Name for Rebirth in the Pure Land", "The Amitabha Sutra says, 'If a person recites the Buddha's name, at the time of death, they will surely be reborn in that land.' The Contemplation Sutra also says, 'Those who recite the Buddha's name and are reborn in that land, their lotus flowers are divided into nine grades.' It can be seen that this Dharma gate of reciting the Buddha's name, regardless of men or women, monks or laity, noble or humble, wise or foolish, as long as one is single-minded and unperturbed, according to the magnitude of their merit and practice, they can be reborn in the nine grades. Therefore, it is known that in this world, there is no one who is not suitable for reciting the Buddha's name. If a person is rich and enjoys ready-made blessings, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person is poor and has few family burdens, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person has sons and their ancestral sacrifices are ensured, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person has no sons and is alone and free, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person's sons are filial and they enjoy their support, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person's sons are rebellious and they are spared from emotional attachments, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person is without illness and takes advantage of their healthy body, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person is ill and close to impermanence, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person is in leisure and their mind is free from disturbances, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person is busy and steals moments of leisure, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person is a renunciate and free from worldly affairs, it is good to recite the Buddha's name. If a person is at home and knows that this is a burning house, it is good to recite the Buddha's name.
