Okay. In general, all the actions of a Bodhisattva are for the benefit of others, but incidentally, those actions that primarily accomplish great self-benefit are called actions of self-benefit. That is, because one knows self and others to be equal, and ultimately wants to liberate sentient beings, one temporarily has a strong desire for enlightenment oneself, strives to accomplish many distinctions of qualities such as clairvoyance and miraculous powers, and is constantly associated with meditative equipoise. With these four, no matter what actions of a Bodhisattva, such as the six perfections, are practiced, they are great self-benefit. With the thought of cherishing others more than oneself, and the combination of rejoicing and dedication, actually benefiting sentient beings through wealth and Dharma, body and activity, and how all meditations are aimed at benefiting others, purifying the fields with samadhi, maturing sentient beings, and indirectly benefiting sentient beings. All actions related to these four are for the benefit of others. There are many ways to distinguish between self-benefit and the benefit of others. The self-result of renunciation, wisdom, and actions of self-benefit is the Dharmakaya, which is the wisdom free from elaboration, the wisdom of dependent origination, the union of the nature of reality and wisdom, and the compassion that arises spontaneously from the power of activity, abiding in the essence of non-objectification, possessing four characteristics. The self-result of generating the mind of enlightenment, samadhi, and actions of benefiting others is the Rupakaya, which is the spontaneous accomplishment of activity, arising from the power of wisdom and aspiration, appearing in accordance with what needs to be tamed, going wherever it is needed, and at all times and places, the activity is never confused and never becomes meaningless, possessing four characteristics. The reason why that path can accomplish that result is that the nature of mind is primordially free from all elaborations, possessing the ability to manifest all the appearances of delusion of relative phenomena, and all the wisdom of ultimate reality that is not deluded. Therefore, it is accomplished in this way. Having ascertained these in the mind, I will briefly explain the meaning of the present context. Establishing one's own activities of teaching in the pure discipline of oneself and others, relying on listening and speaking, perfecting the conduct of disciples, and wisdom.

Even the arising of various emotions, if the mind is not confused and is grasped by bodhicitta, is a great benefit to others. Furthermore, by abiding in the foundation of morality, if one can establish oneself in samadhi, wisdom, and the purity of meditation-born qualities, then even the arising of a pure view of emptiness in one person is more beneficial than the emergence of hundreds and thousands of those who are known as mere holders of the scriptures through hearing and thinking. Compared to the arising of a semblance of samadhi, if one engages in hearing and thinking about the pure teachings of the Buddha, that is a hundred thousand times better, that is satisfying, that is the ultimate benefit to others. A great meditator who merely pretends to be good, an emptiness that belittles the law of karma, and a shamatha that accumulates dullness of foolish meditation, these three are the great causes of the destruction of the sacred Dharma. Furthermore, if one does not have the qualities of realization born from meditation, but pretends to be a lama for others, is this not a great fault? There are two aspects to this: if it is out of desire for one's own gain, honor, and fame, and if one is controlled by attachment and aversion towards oneself and others, then it is a stone leading to the depths of the lower realms. On the other hand, if one sincerely cherishes the thought of benefiting the teachings and the Sangha, genuinely protects the welfare of others, and actually does things that are definitely beneficial, avoids as much as possible things like offerings that are not suitable for consumption, transforms all resources into virtue, and even if one has to use a little bit of something that is unavoidable, if it benefits others, one thinks it is easy even if it harms oneself, thus exchanging oneself for others, and if one thinks that this is an inappropriate action, and strives to confess and purify obscurations, then that becomes a special practice of a Bodhisattva. Someone might think that most of the benefit to others by ordinary individuals is meaningless, but this is because it is considered that few can actually be guided to the path of liberation and omniscience. Otherwise, once a connection with the Dharma is made, it is impossible for it to be ultimately meaningless. Furthermore, if in the process of benefiting others, one becomes attached to oneself, even if one has the highest samadhi, one will fall, let alone others. To destroy that, one must think like this: Even though all conventional phenomena do not exist, what could be more ridiculous than to give rise to pride and self-importance? To gain a kingdom in a dream,
