Because of generating certainty about the ground, abandon the fickle mind that sometimes does and sometimes doesn't, and train firmly. It means don't be connected with distraction, but transform the mind with mind training itself, and train single-mindedly. Be liberated by both thought and analysis. It means to think of the object of the arising of afflictions in one's own mind, and to observe whether it arises intensely or not. If it arises, then intensely meditate on the antidote. Then look at how the self-cherishing is. If it seems like it's not there, then think of an object of attachment and aversion. If self-cherishing arises again, then immediately abandon it with the antidote of exchanging self and others. Don't complain, it means that others have kindness to oneself, and one's own practice of Dharma is for oneself, so don't complain about these to others. Don't suppress the aspiration, it means don't be jealous of others. Abandon retaliating, etc., when others harm or demean oneself, etc., and the mind is disturbed. Don't show even a little, it means don't show expressions of liking or disliking even a little. Don't desire great fame, it means abandoning the hope of gaining fame for one's own practice of Dharma and doing good deeds. When the five degenerations are flourishing, it is the time to transform them into the path to enlightenment. This essence of nectar of pith instructions is transmitted from the master of Gold Island. It is also said like this. At this time, the master of Gold Island said: All thoughts must be destroyed, all antidotes must be completely crushed. All intentions must be unified, all actions must be finalized. The four dharmas of antidote purification are necessary for taming the borderlands. It is necessary in the degenerate age to endure bad environments and evil deeds. It is said like this. As soon as a thought arises, it must be immediately destroyed in emptiness. As soon as an affliction arises, it must be immediately suppressed by the antidote. All intentions must be focused on how to destroy self-grasping and how to benefit others. The path must be finalized, without calculating the stages and paths. Enlightenment is attained by destroying self-grasping. Bad circumstances are spiritual friends, ghosts and demons are emanations of the victors, sickness is the firewood of sins and obscurations, and suffering is the awakening of the nature of reality. Completely the four dharmas of affliction, the borderlands, etc., are the same as above. When unpleasant circumstances arise, they will encourage virtue. When demonic influences occur, they will accumulate.

Accumulation and vows increase. If sickness occurs, then sins and obscurations are purified. The nature of suffering is emptiness. Because it is the nature of Dharma, it can be practiced. If all those occur, it is good that they occur. Thus practice. Happiness is a great yoke. Evil is a great accumulation. Wanting what is most unnecessary. Taking ill omens as cliffs. These are the four antidotes to reversal. Borderlands etc. as before. If it seems like happiness, then various non-Dharma activities will arise from wanting to do them. Looking at the nature of happiness, happiness is not established as a real thing. Merely the appearance of happiness is given to all sentient beings. Being suppressed oneself, therefore it is a yoke. If there is even a little suffering, it seems like one is about to die. The appearance of that suffering is like a dream or illusion. Searching for it, it cannot be found. On top of that appearance, all the unwanted things of all sentient beings are piled up. The agent of suffering and the object of suffering are empty, therefore it is a great accumulation. When bad omens and sorcery occur, various thoughts arise. At that time, one thinks that one needs this and that. Thinking of piling all the bad omens on top of this self-grasping. Abiding without arrogance and carelessness. When all the unnecessary things fall on one's head, then one thinks, self-grasping, you need this. Thinking, let this be destroyed, then put it down with ease and comfort. Furthermore, if one is alone, one feels lonely. Mental agitation arises due to the power of bad karma. If one stays inside, one longs to go outside. If one stays on the mountain, one longs to descend to the valley. If one goes to the valley, one remembers the mountain hermitage, etc. From the stages of a Bodhisattva: Again and again moving one's dwelling place, when knowledge is unhappy and one feels sad, then rebuke oneself in this way: Your disposition is like this, this dwelling is also very good. This mind is all happy. Otherwise, with this endurance of suffering, it is very good that you have not been born in hell. It is very good that you have not experienced burning and roasting. And so on. Furthermore, think intensely about fear. Give oneself a great scolding. Impose hardship on food, practice asceticism. Impose hardship on clothing, take the inferior. Disregarding the difference between happiness and suffering, cultivate the antidote. When sick, one should be a servant to the sick. When sickness occurs, one complains to the servant. At that time, one could have done something better than this, but at that time one thinks, I am kind to this person, and while thinking like that, one takes this sickness as oneself.
