To Mount Meru, the king of mountains, on the white crystal rock directly in front, place the stone altar above the field deities! By the power of the stone altar, may the harvest be bountiful and the crops flourish! May the barley grains be as large as Garuda eggs, the awns as long as Garuda wings, the ears as large as Khung wings, and the barley stalks as tall as Mount Meru! Gather the rapidly growing harvest! Grains gather on this stone altar, field deities gather on this stone altar! Field deities and stone altar, do not be negligent! Thirteen ancestral deities, please assist this stone altar! Bless the harvest to be bountiful! The earth goddess, also, as previously in the presence of the Bhagavan, as promised and vowed! On this field, on this stone altar, let the land bear fruit, let the crops in the field prosper! Let the crops of the land ripen, let the vegetation of the land flourish! The Nagas residing in the water, also, from bathing the Buddha's body with pure water in the presence of the Bhagavan, let the rain fall on time! Let the harvest be bountiful and the crops flourish! If the rain does not fall on time, and the fruits of the vegetation do not ripen, the Nagas will violate the Buddha's decree! Garudas and terrible weather will bring fear, and heads will split into a hundred pieces! Therefore, Nagas, do not violate the oath! Let the rain fall on time, let the harvest always ripen! Let the prosperity of the Nagas be fulfilled! The jewel on the head of the Naga king, the young and fierce retinue, the royal and noble retinues, Brahmins and outcastes, and so on! Yaksha wealth deities do not... now let the fields... now let the grains... earth lords and local deities do not... now let the fields... now let the grains... creators and gnyan spirits do not... now let the fields... now let the grains... grain deity Gangzang (gang bzang) do not be negligent, now let the fields... now let the grains grow luxuriantly. Alas! If two fields compete in harvest, may the harvest of this field be higher than the others. If two fields compete in rows and first sprouts, may the grains of this field be plumper than the others. If two fields compete in the number of seeds, may the number of grains in this field be more than the others. If barley competes in 'bre' and 'khal' (units of volume), may the number of 'bre' of barley in this field be more than the others. Gather the essence of barley in the world, gather the essence of fields in Jambudvipa, gather the essence of grains in Dokham. May I and the patrons receive today here wealth and fortune with power, and a life of complete happiness and auspiciousness. Field deity Brahma, do not weaken, Grain deity Gyalmo (zhos lha rgyal mo), do not diminish in power. Let the abundant crops grow luxuriantly, let the yield of grains be greater than the others, let the flesh of the grains be thicker than the others, let the growth of the grains be faster than the others. Grain is an offering that pleases the Buddhas, grain is an offering that fulfills the oath-bound ones, grain is food that nourishes the six realms of beings, grain is an item for repaying karmic debts. Grain possesses all virtues, there is nothing more pleasing than grain, nothing more delicious than grain, nothing more useful than grain. Why is grain so useful? Because it can be used to offer to the Buddhas of the three times—past, present, and future, to serve the oath-bound protectors, the king of wealth deities also relies on it, it is an offering to the local deities, sentient beings of the three realms rely on it to survive, it is used to clear debts and karmic debts. Therefore, grain is so amazing! Therefore, grain is so rare! Grain possesses the four virtues of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and subjugating. Rice and rapeseed are for pacifying, barley and white mustard are for increasing, millet and peas are for magnetizing, buckwheat and beans are for subjugating. Barley is universal, therefore it possesses the four virtues of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and subjugating.
