The merits are extremely great. If one recites one hundred and eight times every day, or combines it with fasting on auspicious days, reciting the dharani one thousand and eight times, it is said to destroy immeasurable sins. In short, it can destroy thirteen kinds of adversities and obtain thirteen kinds of benefits. Reciting the dharani one hundred million times, even if one remains in a human body, one is a veritable Avalokiteśvara. If this dharani is applied to the bones of the deceased, that being can be liberated from the lower realms. If it is recited seven times in the ear of the dying person, they will not fall into the three lower realms, and so on. The sutras have proclaimed immeasurable merits and benefits. Therefore, if someone desires to be liberated from the cause of sinful obscurations and the suffering results of samsara, they should rely solely on this. Even if the three thousand great thousand worlds were filled with pits of fire, it would be worthwhile to transcend them to seek this profound Dharma. Just as a poor person finds treasure, one should cherish it as the essence of one's heart. This has been clearly elucidated by the one with boundless wisdom. May goodness increase! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
