To avert curses, offer a hundred blood-smeared offerings; bathe, purify, and bless any chosen deity, recite fierce mantras, and cast (the torma) in the four directions. Utter these words: 'Bhyo! Avert the curse cast upon me! Avert the evil intentions of others! Avert the punishment of Yama! Avert with the Bonpo curse! Avert with the evil mantra of the heretics! Avert the curse of others! Avert the evil mantra of the mantra practitioners! Avert the poisonous curse of Zhangzhung! Avert the malicious curse of women! Avert the evil mantra of India! Avert fainting and madness! Avert the pegs of the Tsen spirits! Avert the sorcery of the Sumpa! Avert the diseases sent by the Nagas! Avert the poisoning of medicine! Avert ill omens, the howling of wolves! Avert the howling of foxes in the cemetery! Avert evil birds nesting in temples! Avert the screeching of owls! Avert the howling of dogs! Avert the neighing of horses at midnight! Avert the evil words of children! Avert the inauspicious year! Avert the annual evil! Avert the inauspicious day! Avert the slanderous tongues of people! There is nothing that cannot be averted! Do not violate the command of the Three Jewels! Avert all obstacles of this patron!' Furthermore, recite words of aversion and cast the torma in the four directions. This lineage comes from: Ogyen Padmasambhava, the Terton Jowo Tsewang Darpo, through Karpo Kunga Trakpa, Wonpo Yonten Sangpo, Pebya Lhachok Sangpo, the father and son Yukpa Jodung, Rigzin Trinle Lhundrup, Drubchen Long Yangpa, and then to me. The practical instruction for this is: In the east, place a white monkey carrying a load, led by a skeleton; in the south, place a red horse carrying a load, led by a monk wearing a red hat; in the west, place a black mule carrying a load, led by a monk wearing a yellow hat; in the north, place a mixed-colored yak carrying a load, led by a realized yogi wearing a bear skin. All four of these animal handlers should be carrying loads. Each (animal) should be adorned with twenty-five offerings decorated with red meat, and various substances such as land offerings, Naga offerings, and whatever else is available should be arranged. May all be auspicious! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
