Chokgyur Lingpa's Subduing Arrogance, Oath-Bound Guardians. From the Seven Profound Cycles of Mind Practice: The Practice Manual for Subduing Arrogant Oath-Bound Guardians. Homage to Heruka, the glorious subduer of arrogance; I shall explain his practice manual. To protect the teachings, the practice of oath-bound guardians, it is said, is accomplished by offering and praising worldly deities. Therefore, in extremely harsh places, construct a mandala, perform the practice and offering, gather the feast. Having performed the preliminary stages as usual, then contemplate the main stage of generation: All phenomena are without object, all-pervasive and suchness; unimpeded self-power, compassion pervades all. From the essence of the cause of union, the syllable Hūṃ, radiate Raṃ, Yaṃ, Khaṃ, purifying the outer vessel and inner contents. From the pure E, Yaṃ, Ra, Suṃ, Kiṃ, Raṃ, radiate: Space, black wind, blood ocean, fields of, Keṃ bones, Mount Meru, the fire of the eon blazing. In the center of that, from Bhrūṃ, arises a wrathful palace: A layered stack of skulls, blood, grease, fire, and wind churning; arrogant ones adorned with sun and moon pillars and beams; possessing the enjoyment of the flesh of slain enemies and obstructors. Square, with four doors, covered with fields, blazing with Citta, a sky-iron wheel turning. Adorned with makaras, children, fish, and intertwined snakes; surrounded by eight charnel grounds and a protective wheel. A four-spoked ship wheel, vajra rock; in the indigo triangular expanse of blazing E: A lotus, sun, and moon, the seat of arrogant male and female; upon that descends the causal seed syllable Hūṃ. Oṃ Vajra Caṇḍa Sarva Duṣṭān Hūṃ Phaṭ (Oṃ Vajra Caṇḍa Sarva Duṣṭān Hūṃ Phaṭ, Fierce Vajra, Destroy All Evildoers, Hūṃ Phaṭ). Oneself as the Secret Lord, subduing all arrogant ones; indigo black, the right hand black-red, the left smoky. Six hands, the first stirring blood and bile with a vajra; the middle and last of the right holding the heads of eight gods; the middle and lower of the left holding the heads of eight nāgas; seizing from the hair, extending vajra wings. Wrathfully furrowed brows, nine eyes flashing like lightning; beard and eyebrows black-red blazing upwards; hair reddish-yellow swirling upwards, a vajra crest. Possessing the demeanor of nine dances, smeared with blood, grease, and ashes; wearing a flayed human skin on the upper body; a tiger skin loincloth, vajra armor, and a garland of snakes, a skull crown and necklace; adorned with the ornaments of the great terrifying one. Four feet trampling the arrogant ones in a dancing posture; the secret consort is the general collection of existence. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
