From the Thugs sgrub bar chad kun sel of the Great Treasure, here is the ritual called 'All-Protecting Glorious Blaze: The Activity Ritual of the Lord of the Lineage, Amitabha, for ransoming the bla-tshe (life force)'. Chokling Tshekar. Ransom Ritual. The unchanging nature of life. The blessings that draw back what is diminished. The majestic iron hook extends to the ends of space. I prostrate to the Lord Amitayus. The profound meaning, easy to carry out, of the Dakini, The fragrance of her face has not yet faded. May this spring of mantra-knowing heart, Be fully revealed for the benefit of others. Therefore, the bla (life force) and tshe (lifespan) of beings are said to abide like the string and sound of a lute. If the bla is unchangeable and stable, the tshe will be long. If the bla declines, the source of life will be severed. Even a slight impairment can cause obstacles to the continuation of life, such as illness, as explained in the scriptures. However, by combining the methods of mantra and rigpa (awareness), restoring what has declined and replenishing what has been lost can be accomplished without difficulty. Therefore, it is appropriate to engage in this method. As it says in the root text: 'The bla is the support of life, therefore, when it is diminished, declines, or is stolen by demons and obstructors, sudden death can occur, therefore, one should strive in this method of ransom.' There are three parts: the preliminary preparations, including the arrangement of offerings; the main part, the sequence of recitation and mantra repetition; and the concluding part, the completion of the activity. The first part has four aspects: establishing the support for the bla; arranging the ransom substitute and torma; arraying the armor of protection; and gathering the necessary implements. First, arrange the torma and offerings of the immortal life mandala according to the details of the text. In addition, make the image of the deity and offerings warm and complete. Furthermore, when examining the auspicious connections, if the patron is physically present, he/she should remain nearby. For the sake of easy practice, on the left side of the mandala, on a clean yellow cushion, place the hat or soiled clothes of the one to be ransomed, wrapped in silk or cotton cloth, and purified with cleansing water and incense. For a male, place the right leg of a male sheep; for a female, place the left leg of a female sheep, wrapped in red silk. This should be butchered meat, not meat from natural causes. In front of it, place a flawless white copper bowl covered with white cotton. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
