Collected Teachings of Master Taranatha JT332 Praise to the Bhagavan Shakyamuni 16-3 ༄༅། །Praise to the Bhagavan Shakyamuni ༄༅། །Praise to the Bhagavan Shakyamuni ༄༅། །Oṃ svāsti. Oṃ, may there be well-being!). Happiness, benefit, and bliss, the source of all, victorious one. Whoever has a little faith, all perfections will arise for them as well. Because of the ignorance of those with little merit, they are also devoid of faith in the victorious one, and turn away from the sacred Dharma. These are like visible cattle. No matter how much recitation and speech there is, one utterance of virtue is supreme. Or hold the vow of silence. If you speak, may you speak of this (virtue). In this or other realms of the three realms, if there is no one equal to you, then what superior qualities could there be? I bow to the unequal, the incomparable, and the equal. Not having found another example, I think of using the all-seeing one and others as examples. But since you and they are inseparable in the body of wisdom, no example is found. With love that establishes all beings in benefit and happiness, and compassion that saves from suffering and its causes, without near or far, immeasurable equanimity, I bow to you who abide in the four abodes of Brahma. Just as a mother grieves for her only child, always with love, day and night, six times, without neglecting to look upon suffering beings, I prostrate to you who have the eyes of great compassion. In all words, meanings, and interpretations, the protector of beings has fearless, inexhaustible knowledge. Subduing all sentient beings who engage in afflictions, I respectfully prostrate to the chief of the best of men who subdues. Although you always abide in equality, with spontaneous, unobstructed wisdom, you cut off the doubts of all sentient beings. I prostrate to you, the lion of speech. Like setting fire to a flourishing red ant nest with four fires, so too, various spiritual friends, Yama, death, fire, etc., wash away all the stains of wrong views. I respectfully bow to that great sage. The essence of the peaceful robber, the self, etc., those who speak of the agent are in a very ignorant place. Striking the great drum of the Dharma of emptiness, I prostrate to you, the god of gods. With the sound of the bell of dependent arising Dharma, skillfully calling the feast of nectar of the three realms, becoming a treasure of precious Dharma never before seen,

Oṃ. I prostrate to the banner of Dharma. Those who conceptualize the world as self and what belongs to self, are caught in the thicket of views by those who claim to know. Since they do not perceive any person in anything, I pay homage to the one who proclaims the lion's roar of selflessness. Although dharmas never have inherent existence, the fact that there is no deception in the way of cause and effect is what the Protector knew, saw, and then taught. I praise the one who liberates beings by the Middle Way. Existence, non-existence, reality, non-reality, extremes, center, etc., are merely labels imputed by the mind in dependence on each other. Saying that origination and cessation are not observed in either self or other, I pay homage to the one who teaches with the Brahma sound of emptiness. Non-giving, Bharadvaja, Light-protected, etc., are variously conceived by conceptual thought as different agents. The Victor, you saw that mind alone is the agent and taught that. I pay homage to you, the subtle and difficult-to-understand knower. Those like the ash-covered ones delight in composing suffering. The worlds are completely absorbed in desire. I respectfully prostrate to you, the guide on the path of the Middle Way practice that abandons the two extremes. Being utterly free from going and coming, not being annihilation, not being permanence, not being existence, and not being non-existence, I prostrate to the unborn body. All suchness and all that exists, by the single wisdom of the three times, you know in a single instant, but you have no object of focus. I pay homage to you. In the unsurpassed pure realm of Akanishta, there is no contradiction in seeing the teacher. Because the supreme sons are empowered by the Great Vehicle, the feast of Dharma never ceases. However, in all the realms, whoever is tamed by whatever means, you teach in that way, but spontaneously accomplish without conceptualization. Due to the power of aspiration, beings have different inclinations, faculties, and elements. Without erring, you accomplish the meaning as it is. Unfocused compassion is wondrous and amazing. Great compassion is without conceptualization. There is no abandonment or equanimity that is not examined. Seeming contradictions are not contradictory, I prostrate to the wisdom of the Victorious One. You are under the power of compassion, showing various ways and practices. Although enlightened from beginningless time, you still show rebirths until the end of time. Even when you previously had afflictions, you gave away kingdoms, consorts, beautiful women, your head, and your body countless times. At that time, I pay homage to you, the worthy of offerings. Gods, sages, Sarasvati, lions, tigers, and mountains
