I will not act with hypocrisy in my conduct. Can I go to hell to fill my belly? Abandoning pretense and deceit is extremely important. However, if one says that one has no hypocrisy, and then says vulgar things at will, reciting (ཕཊ, phaṭ, Phat, to destroy) and (རལ་, ral, Ral, to burn), it is a great slander of the Dharma, and one will also fall. The actions of body, speech, and mind should only be pure. If tainted by evil, immediately confess. If one can abandon all possessions and live in the mountains, without the name of a mountain-dwelling practitioner, but instead help those who harm oneself, and not boast that one's thoughts and actions are good, and if one does not have the arrogance of thinking that one is a good practitioner when one does not do things that are not in accordance with the Dharma, then one has reached the standard of a good meditator. If one is too attached to one's homeland and fame, and boasts of one's merits, even if one possesses all other merits, one's heart is rotten. All actions should be done only with the intention of benefiting others. Sleep, food, conduct, tormas, etc., and one's individual yogas should not be interrupted. Whatever arises, cherish the devotion to the Guru, as well as renunciation and faith, without separation. View, meditation, conduct, clothing, etc., should avoid being too different from others. Even if one is the same as the masses, one should maintain one's own style. Even if one has great altruism, one should not frequently enter and leave villages, and even if one's appearance is upright, one's heart should not be unsteady. Strive to accomplish these things in any way possible. This is the fifth story about the conduct that is essential for Dharma practice. Furthermore, dedicating one's own merits to Bodhi, the merit to be dedicated is also like an illusion, the one who dedicates is also like an illusion, the essence of dedication is the desire for the result, and the mind accompanied by the words of dedication is also like an illusion, the result of dedication, the state of Buddhahood, is also like an illusion. Knowing that all appearances are inseparable from emptiness, and having faith in the infallibility of conventional cause and effect, one makes prayers. First, beginning with the teachings of the Buddhas such as the "Bodhicitta Prayer," and then saying this: I, with faith, renunciation, compassion, Bodhicitta, and meditating on reality, as well as prostrations, offerings, confession, rejoicing, meditating on deities, reciting mantras, and whatever good deeds I have done, especially the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the Lord of Wrathful Deities, Vajra Goddess, and the supreme and holy Guru,

May all the merits accumulated in the three times, such as repairing dilapidated statues and building new ones, and carrying out the activities of monasteries, May all beings, virtues, and the victorious ones with their sons, By the power of entering the ocean of pure activities, May I and all sentient beings equal to space, Completely abandon the two obscurations along with their imprints, Quickly attain unsurpassed enlightenment, And until then, may it become a cause of unobstructed happiness. The single path of all Buddhas of the three times, The inseparability of emptiness and compassion, Having realized the sacred wisdom, May spontaneous other-benefit arise. May all diseases, evil spirits, and obstacles be completely pacified, Having self-liberated from all obstacles and wrong paths, Having realized the nature of reality, the nature of mind, May pure appearances be abundant. May all sentient beings who are led by my seeing, hearing, touching, and remembering, Quickly pacify all karma, afflictions, and suffering, May all happiness, goodness, and perfection increase. With the devotion of seeing the Lama as the Dharmakaya, And whatever arises is self-liberated without fabrication, Without obstacles or distractions in practice, With pure altruism, may the minds of others be liberated. May we never be separated from the supreme Lama, And may we be blessed by the blessings of all Yidams, May all Dharma protectors be servants, May all connected ones accomplish great meaning. This was written by Tāranātha at Jomonang (Jo Nang) Pelgyi Rir, after being repeatedly urged by those who are well-versed in craftsmanship, and those who have faith in practice and their friends. This was spoken at the urging of the Tibetan scholar Don Grub Gyaltsen, who is skilled in sculpture, and his pure companion Kunga Palzang. Auspiciousness!
