Composed by Tāranātha at the great palace of Sne'u gdong rtse. The view is vast like the sky, it is most important to experience it in practice. A view without experience remains only in intellectual understanding. For the initial yogi, it is difficult to recognize one's own face in the subsequent innate wisdom, therefore, it is most important to strive in both shamatha and vipassanā. The nine methods of settling the mind, and the stages of meditating on shamatha, as well as the many terms such as vipassanā of the mundane and supramundane. I prefer the essence, so I will not discuss many elaborations here. The profound suchness and, the few subsequent connections are, meditating alternately on analysis and placement, etc. Much is said in the scriptures, but that can also be transformed into the path, but this is not necessary for those with instructions. The nature is primordially free from elaboration, recognizing that it is so, the unparalleled king of methods is, devotion to a qualified guru. In order for one's own mind to freely, control one's own mind, meditate on shamatha. The nature is primordially free from elaboration, in order to generate certainty, search for the mind. That mind that has settled completely, just recognizing it is enough, therefore, constantly rely on uninterrupted mindfulness. Without mindfulness, it is difficult to recognize. Because it is the primordial way of abiding, the uncorrected, raw state is crucial. Because whatever arises is innate, relaxing and abiding is the key to meditation. The ultimate accomplishment of all actions and practices is the key to unleashing power. Seeing the guru as the dharmakāya, using devotion and blessings as the path, is meditation. The seven supreme points are the words of the guru, bringing practice to the end, is an indispensable key. One's own mind, clear and empty, without grasping, unpolluted by dullness and excitement, letting go, going, staying, and remaining are all free, is the root of shamatha meditation. If dull, tighten and raise the energy. If excited, loosen and lower the gaze. Whatever activity is done in the breaks between sessions, it is most important to maintain the awareness of one's own state. Deity, bindu, etc., whatever aspects of visualization are taught, the key is to settle the unreferential awareness without meditation, that alone is the profound essence. Mind to mind.
