English version The Guanshiyin Bodhisattva Cintamani Dharani Sutra Translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Bao Siwei from Tianzhu (India) of the Tang Dynasty At that time, Guanshiyin (Avalokiteśvara) Bodhisattva said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, I have a great mandala of luminous mantra, named the Lotus Peak Vajra Empowerment Secret Unobstructed Guanshiyin Lotus Cintamani Turning Wheel Heart Dharani. This Guanshiyin heart mantra is the most supreme accomplishment. World Honored One, in order to fulfill the wishes of all sentient beings, I shall now proclaim this mantra before the World Honored One. May the World Honored One bless me, and rain down great treasure rain for all mantra sages, like the great kalpa tree, and like the Cintamani jewel, so that all the wishes of all sentient beings may be fulfilled.' The Buddha said: 'I have already blessed you. Now you should proclaim this secret wish-fulfilling Guanshiyin heart mantra that can fulfill all desires and is unobstructed.' At that time, Guanshiyin Bodhisattva Mahasattva, went to the Buddha's place, prostrated at the Buddha's feet, circumambulated three times to the right, and smiled joyfully before the World Honored One, and with great compassion proclaimed this mantra king. The mantra is: Om（two combined, first） Varada（second） Patme（two combined, third） Hum（two combined, fourth） After this mantra is spoken, the earth immediately shakes in six ways. All the palaces of the heavens also shake. All the dragon palaces also tremble and shake. All the Yakshas (Yaksa, a type of spirit), Gandharvas (Gandharva, a type of celestial musician), Asuras (Asura, a type of demon), Garudas (Garuda, a mythical bird), Kinnaras (Kinnara, a type of celestial being), and Mahoragas (Mahoraga, a type of serpent deity) all greatly tremble and shake. All evil demons and Vinayakas (Vinayaka, the elephant-headed god), all those who create obstacles, are terrified. All demon palaces are without light. All base and vile beings, evil dragons, evil ghosts, female Yakshas, and female Rakshasas (Rakshasa, a female demon), all extremely evil beings fall to the ground. All poisonous insects hide in their holes. All hells without exception are destroyed. All beings in hell are liberated and reborn in the heavens. Before the World Honored One, they rain down heavenly offerings of flowers, incense, clothing, and various adornments. In the empty sky, heavenly music is played. At that time, the World Honored One, with a voice as beautiful as the Kalavinka (Kalavinka, a mythical bird with a beautiful voice), praised Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, saying: 'Excellent! Excellent! For the benefit of all beings, you should speak of the function of this mantra.' Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, if there are good men, good women, Bhikshus (Bhiksu, a Buddhist monk), or Bhikshunis (Bhiksuni, a Buddhist nun), who wish to immediately obtain various benefits and have their wishes fulfilled, then they should diligently cultivate this Wish-Fulfilling Mantra and Mudra. It is not necessary to perform rituals, seek auspicious days, observe fasting, bathe, or wear special clothing. When receiving and holding this mantra, it is not necessary to exert oneself. Simply reciting it will lead to immediate accomplishment. Those who recite it can accomplish all kinds of tasks and can perform hundreds of thousands of different deeds. No other mantra is equal to this one. It can initially eliminate sins, those accumulated from the past, and all undertakings will be accomplished. I will now speak of it. Simply reading and reciting it can accomplish unsurpassed things. Just reading it can purify even those who have fallen into Avici Hell (Avici, the lowest of the eight great hells). The five heinous offenses (Panca-anantarya, the five gravest offenses) will be completely eradicated, and all illnesses will be removed. 蛊皆不能害。一切诸疮不着其身。一切鬼神频那夜迦。诸毒刀杖风雨恶灾。魔军及贼他军王难怨家伺求。毒蛊猛兽皆不能为害。终不横死不作恶梦。战伐斗诤无不皆胜。此等诸事才读即成。唇内诵之满一百遍。观世音菩萨即于其日现彼人前。与其所愿皆令成就。又见一切诸佛如来。及见西方无量寿佛。极乐世界及菩萨会。补特勒伽山中观世音菩萨宫殿。其身清净贵人供养众人乐见。罪障盖缠无不清净。所生之处得宿命智。莲华化生一切妙具。皆自装严直至菩提。永离恶趣究竟成佛。罪恶消灭善道清净。才读诵者皆即成就。 尔时观世音菩萨。复说最上秘密功能。若为利益哀愍一切众生。摄取令伏遮止恶人。令慈增长念诵即成。能与众生作大利益。令诸智者得大安乐。货食增长富贵资具。无不丰足色力滋盛。此咒秘密不得妄说。若欲真实成就无上如意摩尼大印念诵即成。若已食若未食若净若不净。每常诵念悉无过患。诵念之时当念忆观世音菩萨永作依怙。若贵若贱若男若女沙门外道。称其名字注心系念。而诵此咒应以后夜若平明时。男最贵者一千八遍。女最贵者一千十遍。第二贵男诵八百遍。第二贵女诵七百遍。第三贵女诵六百遍。若婆罗门诵五百遍。刹利四百遍。首陀三百。毗舍二百。比丘一百八遍。女人一百 现代汉语译本 蛊（一种毒虫）都不能加害。一切疮伤不会附着在他身上。一切鬼神频那夜迦（障碍神）[Vinayaka]。各种毒药、刀杖、风雨灾害、魔军以及盗贼、敌军、国王的灾难、仇家伺机报复，毒蛊、猛兽都不能加害。最终不会横死，不做恶梦。战争争斗没有不胜的。这些事情只要读诵就能成就。在嘴唇内默诵一百遍，观世音菩萨当天就会出现在那人面前，使他所有的愿望都实现。还能见到一切诸佛如来，以及见到西方无量寿佛（Amitabha Buddha），极乐世界以及菩萨聚会，补特勒伽山（Potalaka）中的观世音菩萨宫殿。其身清净，受贵人供养，众人乐于见到。罪障覆盖缠绕都能清净。所生之处获得宿命智（knowledge of past lives），莲花化生，一切美好的器具都自然具备，一直到菩提（enlightenment）。永远脱离恶趣，最终成佛。罪恶消灭，善道清净。只要读诵的人都能成就。 当时观世音菩萨，又说了最上秘密的功能。如果为了利益怜悯一切众生，摄取使之降伏，遮止恶人，使慈悲增长，念诵就能成就。能给众生带来大利益，使有智慧的人得到大安乐，货物食物增长，富贵资财器具，没有不丰足的，容貌气力滋润强盛。这个咒语秘密，不得随意乱说。如果想要真实成就无上如意摩尼（wish-fulfilling jewel）大印，念诵就能成就。无论已吃饭或未吃饭，无论干净或不干净，经常诵念都没有过失。诵念的时候应当忆念观世音菩萨，永远作为依靠。无论是高贵还是低贱，无论是男人还是女人，沙门（monk）外道（non-Buddhist），称念他的名字，专心系念，而诵此咒，应该在后半夜或黎明时。最高贵的男人诵一千八遍，最高贵的女人诵一千十遍。第二高贵的男人诵八百遍，第二高贵的女人诵七百遍。第三高贵的女人诵六百遍。如果是婆罗门（Brahmin）诵五百遍，刹帝利（Kshatriya）四百遍，首陀罗（Shudra）三百遍，吠舍（Vaishya）二百遍，比丘（bhiksu）一百八遍，女人一百遍。
