The Cloud of Offerings, a Ritual for the Sixteen Arhats of the Sage King. Dzogchenpa Garwangchuk. The Cloud of Offerings, a Ritual for the Sixteen Arhats of the Sage King. Dzogchenpa Garwangchuk. The Cloud of Offerings, a Ritual for the Sixteen Arhats of the Sage King, is complete. To the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and, The Holy Dharma, peaceful and free from attachment, To the supreme assembly of the noble Sangha, We respectfully prostrate. In order to avert the danger of water at the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, the order of the ritual of the Sixteen Arhats is as follows: On a good base, either with colored powders, or a painted cloth, or an arrangement of flowers, whichever is suitable. A square mansion with four doors, surrounded by a garland of five-colored rays of light, in the center with sixteen lotus petals. Around it, starting from the northeast with a water-holding flower, arrange the five objects of enjoyment with two waters preceding them around the perimeter. Also, arrange as many inconceivable offering items as possible. In front of it, place a torma, one for the Lama and the Three Jewels, one for the Noble Sixteen Arhats with their retinue, and one for the local deities, the six classes of debtors, and obstacles. All of these should be round, surrounded by four petals, and decorated with the three white and three sweet substances. Then, after bathing and purifying oneself, sit on a comfortable seat. Visualize the refuge, the Three Jewels, and the mandala of the Noble Sixteen Arhats, vividly present in the sky in front. First, taking refuge: I and all sentient beings equal to the sky, take refuge in the Lama! Take refuge in the Buddha! Take refuge in the Dharma! Take refuge in the Sangha! Take refuge in the assembly of the Noble Sixteen Great Arhats with their retinue! Second, generating the mind of enlightenment: To the Buddha, Dharma, and the supreme assembly, Until enlightenment, I take refuge. By the merit of generosity and so forth that I perform, May I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of beings! Generating the mind of enlightenment according to the Madhyamaka system: Teacher, King Shakya, and All the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, May all be mindful of me. I, named so-and-so, Until reaching the heart of enlightenment, Take refuge in the Buddhas.

I also take refuge in the Dharma and the assembly of Bodhisattvas. Just as the Sugatas of the past Aroused the mind of enlightenment, And abide in the training of the Bodhisattvas In the order they are in, I also, for the benefit of beings, Shall arouse the mind of enlightenment, And in the training of the Bodhisattvas, Shall train myself in due order. Third, blessing the offerings: Purify with Svabhava emptiness.
