From the vast skull of the ancestral protector Amitayus, The stream of the well-arisen wisdom dakinis, The water skillfully drunk, spewed forth by Padma Jahnu, From the close reliance on the wealthy, glorious Vajra, Those that closely arise from the path of oral transmission, Thoroughly absorbed in the vast ocean of the profound heart, From the venerable lama, the lineage of oral transmission, Grant permission to write the longevity instructions, Dharma protectors. Therefore, in writing this concise transmission of the longevity instructions, the indestructible vajra lifeline, in order to generate faith and ensure the purity of the source, there must be both a history and the instructions that arise from it. First, in the western realm of Sukhavati, the dakini named Secret Wisdom, blessed by the Bhagavan protector Amitayus and Immeasurable Wisdom Light, is known as Sun-Moon Accomplishment, possessing the throne of the sun and moon, the umbrella, and the six ornaments. Furthermore, when the great teacher Padmasambhava requested empowerment from the one known as the powerful Karma Dakini, the letter ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) was transformed into a form and swallowed by the dakini. From this, he obtained the empowerment of the outer nature of Amitabha, the deathless life-awareness holder; the empowerment of the inner nature of Arya Avalokiteshvara, the supreme accomplishment of the Great Seal; and the empowerment of the secret nature of glorious Hayagriva, enslaving gods and demons. Thus, he obtained the longevity sound that embodies the meaning of all three.

This very life-essence of immortal Vajra. The great master directly gave it to the great accomplished Palden Dorje, who attained the rainbow body. He, in turn, gave it to the omniscient Sonam Gyatso Pal Zangpo in the sunlit chamber of Drepung. The venerable one received it from Khon Tön Dorje Chang Chenpo Paljor Lhundrup, the master of all lineages. Although he passed it on to many fortunate disciples, most of them did not maintain the oral tradition, except for one or two with wisdom and discernment. In the past, there was no written record, only oral transmission. In order to prevent this Dharma from disappearing and to benefit others, it was written down. Secondly, the instructions that come from that include accomplishing longevity for oneself and guiding disciples. The first is: Purify with the mantra of Padmāntakṛta (པདྨཱནྟ་ཀྲྀཏ་，padmāntakṛta，Garland of Lotuses and Skulls). Purify with Svabhāva (སྭ་བྷཱ་བ，svabhāva，Nature). From the state of emptiness, instantly transform yourself on top of a lotus, sun, and crossed skull cups into the powerful Padma Hayagriva, holding a curved knife in the right hand and a skull cup of blood in the left. The horse head is green-black, neighing like a horse. Adorned with the eight charnel ground ornaments. Residing in the midst of blazing flames of wisdom. Banish obstacles, purify. From the state of emptiness, from Oṃ (ཨོཾ，oṃ，Oṃ) a vast and expansive jewel vessel appears, filled with a pure and unobstructed torma, distinguished by the qualities of the five desirable attributes. Bless by reciting Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ (ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ，oṃ āḥ hūṃ，Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ) three times. Recite Oṃ Sarva Vighnān (ཨོཾ་སརྦ་བིགྷྣཱན，oṃ sarvavighnān，Oṃ, All Obstacles) etc. three times and dedicate. Hrīḥ (ཧྲཱིཿ，hrīḥ，Hrīḥ): All you hordes of demons and obstructing spirits, depart from this place! Take this torma and move to another realm! If you do not leave, by the command of the wrathful great one, you will be destroyed like particles of dust! Banish obstacles with Sumbha (སུམྦྷ，sumbha，Subduer) etc. Above, below, and in all directions, without exception, with vajras and, wrathful ones, and a mass of five-colored flames, a continuous protection fills the space, may you not transgress the boundary of this wheel-tent!
