The Nectar of Juniper Essence. The Nectar of Juniper Essence. The Nectar of Juniper Essence, here it is. Guru Ratna Namo. Once upon a time, at Tidro Drakkar, when Guru Padmasambhava and the Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal were practicing the Vajrakilaya, there were sounds of celestial music, rains of flowers, and countless auspicious signs. Tsogyal asked, "What is the reason for such auspicious signs?" The Guru replied, "From countless eons ago, I have practiced the essence of juniper. These auspicious signs, such as the sounds of celestial music and the rain on the juniper trees, are due to the power of the benefits of practicing the essence of juniper. Now, in this life, I have attained the Vidyadhara state, subdued the three realms of gods, demons, and humans, and especially suppressed the red-faced Rakshasas and controlled appearances, all due to the power of practicing the essence of juniper." Tsogyal exclaimed, "How amazing! If there is such a profound instruction, please grant it to me for the sake of those who seek the next life." The Guru then granted it to Tsogyal. Tsogyal wrote it down and warned, "Do not give it to just anyone, except for those who seek the next life, or you will incur the severe punishment of the Wisdom Dakini. When transmitting this, offer a golden mandala to the Lama and a Tsok offering to the Dakini." He instructed, "Meet with a fortunate one in the cave of Samye Chimpu!" and sealed it as a treasure. Samaya. Preliminary: Perform refuge, bodhicitta, and generation and completion stages properly. Main practice: There are two aspects, seeds and leaves. When picking good juniper seeds, visualize yourself as the Dakini's Samadhi, whatever the size of the juniper tree. That is the Wisdom Dakini, wearing silk garments and a fluttering headdress, seated with legs in a stretched and bent posture. The right hand holds a curved knife pointing to the sky, and the left hand holds a skull cup filled with nectar. Offer real and visualized offerings, perform the Tsok wheel, and make the seven-branch offering and mandala offering, etc. Whether it is leaves or fruits, think of requesting the siddhi of nectar. Do not cut down the juniper tree, that is the Samaya.

Furthermore, the grains should be carefully selected. Then, for those lacking warmth, add nutmeg and other warming medicines. To control phlegm, mix arura and three sour medicines, and make the color beautiful. If you want it to be red, use red realgar. Put these substances into a clean earthenware pot. Pour water to submerge the substances and cook on a stove. When bubbles appear, it is the sign of being cooked. Pour away the cooked substances and residue. When a silver-colored clear liquid appears, also pour it away. After it has cooled slightly, visualize it as nectar and recite the mantra twenty-one times. Whether eating powder or pills, recite this mantra twenty-one times. The mantra is: Om Sarva Dakini Buddha Dakini Hum Phat If taking powder, take half an eggshell's worth. If taking pills, take twenty-one pills, the size of the pills should be like deer meat pills. This is the method for making pills. Samaya. The practical instructions have five points: first, the teachings on juniper; second, the teachings on food; third, the teachings on conduct; fourth, the teachings on dispelling obstacles; and fifth, the teachings on enhancement. First, there are three types of juniper to be avoided: forest juniper, earth juniper, rock juniper, and juniper with hair and thorns should all be avoided. For those with fever, avoid juniper from the sunny side; for those with cold diseases, avoid juniper from the shady side. These are the junipers to be avoided. The junipers to be taken are as follows: divine juniper, blue-white in color, like spilled milk; medicinal juniper, oily and smooth; grass juniper, with lush and smooth leaves. For those with fever, dry in the shade; for those with cold diseases, dry in the sun; for those with both fever and cold diseases, dry in the shade. Avoid dust and dirt, wipe the basins and other containers clean, and gently separate the juniper wood, this is the oral instruction. Visualize the five fingers of the right hand as the five Buddha families, visualize the five fingers of the left hand as the five classes of dakinis, and when visualizing the union of father and mother, visualize the descent of nectar, and mix in a little butter and flour, it is necessary to avoid the generation of wind. When eating, first offer a little warm tea and then take it, reciting the above mantra twenty-one times. For twenty-one days, maintain strict retreat, and abide in the samadhi of a dakini. Regarding the teachings on food: avoid black butter, green vegetables, garlic, and onions; avoid meat, alcohol, and rotten food; take fresh butter and bones, these are the teachings on food. The teachings on conduct are as follows: do not jump or run vigorously.
