First, one should contemplate that the place where one resides is not ordinary, but a pure realm, the great palace of Lotus Light. In the sky in front, in the midst of a gathering of rainbow clouds of wisdom, on a seat of stacked lotus, sun, and moon, visualize the root Guru Padmasambhava, the embodiment of the Three Jewels, Padma Thötreng Tsal, clearly appearing with ornaments and attire in accordance with realization. The three bodies, the lineage of Gurus, the eight great Herukas, and other yidams and dakinis, are thought to be surrounded by an inconceivable number, like a long lineage market. Visualize the Gurus of the near lineage stacked on top of each other, starting from the head of the root Guru and going up through the lineage. The root Guru himself is visualized as the union of the three roots, the method of the wish-fulfilling jewel that gathers all. Whether practicing extensively, moderately, or concisely, one should practice in this way, which is the faith and practice of the essential meaning. Here, in the context of the unsurpassed secret mantra vehicle, the root Guru himself is the nature of the Three Jewels. As it is said: In this body of the Vajra Master, the bodies of the Buddhas reside in sequence. And: The stainless mind becomes the Buddha.
