In summary, outwardly it is a earth treasure, inwardly it is pure appearance, and secretly it is a mind treasure, which are categorized into these three. Here, it is an extremely profound mind treasure. To tell its essential history, it is that the father of all Buddhas, the venerable Manjushri Vajra himself, manifested as the great Dharma King, the chariot of the teachings in the snowy land, like a celestial flower of Brahma. At the end of the degenerate age, he intentionally took on the role of an emanation to protect the Tibetan people. When Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, or Padma Osel Do-ngak Lingpa, the great universal monarch of all scholars and accomplished ones in the snowy land, reached the age of twenty-nine in the Earth Monkey year (1848), he traveled to central Tibet. On the tenth day of the birth month (April) in the northern direction of Gekye, he performed a Lama Sangdu gathering and offering, and his inner experience blazed. When he went outside, he entered a cave facing southwest that was very pleasant. He felt very happy and performed a Lama Yoga. At the end, he fell asleep for a while and woke up to a loud noise. In the sky in front of him, Guru Zahor with his retinue of three appeared manifestly, bestowed the blessings of symbols, and dissolved into him. Subsequently, the root Dharma cycles of the Lotus-Born Heart Essence became clearly apparent in his mind, and he immediately established the complete practice text. Then, on the fifteenth day of the lower month, he went to Samye and offered extensive offerings to the Nyang treasure Guru Padmasambhava statue residing in the Dzong (fortress). When he recited the previous practice text, the statue transformed into the actual Padmasambhava, bestowed empowerment and instructions, and a vision of dissolving into him arose. The branch Dharma cycles also appeared clearly in the expanse of his mind, but he kept them secret for a long time. At the age of thirty-seven, in the Fire Dragon year (1856), on the waxing day of the royal month, the great treasure revealer Chokgyur Lingpa earnestly requested Jamyang Khyentse to bestow the ripening liberation of a profound Dharma cycle that he possessed. In response, he gave the root empowerment and an explanation of the practice text. That night, the great treasure revealer saw a special omen in a dream in which Guru Rinpoche appointed him as regent.
