The pith instructions for the Chöd practice of Vajrasattva's Heart Essence, transmitted as experiential instructions, liberating delusion and conceptualization. The great translator Dharmashri. The pith instructions for the Chöd practice of Vajrasattva's Heart Essence, transmitted as experiential instructions, liberating delusion and conceptualization. The great translator Dharmashri. Herein lies the collection of instructions called "Liberating Delusion and Conceptualization," the pith instructions for the Chöd practice of Vajrasattva's Heart Essence, transmitted as experiential instructions. Siddhi rastu! May the demon of dualistic grasping be vanquished by the sword of self-cognizant wisdom! Pervading all, unchanging, beyond mind, conquering the expanse of reality. I prostrate to the essence of the guru Vajrasattva. In order to clearly and simply explain the profound meaning of cutting through delusion, I will here explain the brief instructions on the limb of the practice of Vajrasattva's Heart Essence. To practice the oral instructions for cutting through the delusion of dualistic grasping, there are three parts: preliminary, main practice, and concluding practice. First, the preliminary: As an antidote to attachment to the root of samsaric clinging—attachment to the enjoyments of this life—practice death and impermanence; as an antidote to attachment to the pleasures and riches of samsara, contemplate the suffering of samsara, arousing a sense of renunciation. In order to turn the mind towards accomplishing the state of liberation, purify the mind by first going through the stages of refuge, bodhicitta, accumulation, and purification according to the root instructions. In particular, pray strongly to let go of self-grasping and to transform obstacles into the path. The main practice is divided into: settling through view, practicing through meditation, and enhancing through conduct. First, on a comfortable seat, arrange the body in the seven-point posture. The key point of speech is to remain natural. The key point of mind is not to deliberately strain or relax. Do not pay attention to any thoughts of the three times, but rest in a natural state. And, in that state, with the wisdom of inward-looking awareness, trace the origin, dwelling, and cessation of the mind itself. Observe its shape, color, and the seer and seen, etc., carefully observing the nature of whatever arises. All thoughts that have arisen, will arise, and are arising vanish without a trace. Therefore, without seeing anything anywhere and without establishing anything, nakedly see the rootless, baseless, empty-clear, objectless nature of mind, recognize that naked awareness, and rest without fabrication in a state of non-objectification, beyond thought and expression. As the root instructions say: Look at the mind as free from grasper and grasped, its nature is without beginning, end, or middle, without color, shape,

zung bral(藏文)!

Zung dral! Like this, samsara and nirvana, all dharmas are like the nature of emptiness without appearance! Like permanence and annihilation, like illusion, like the moon in water! One's own mind is without basis and root! Cutting it off is the nature of space itself! The object and mind, the apprehended and the apprehender, are not established! In the state of self-arisen wisdom, naturally clear! Cutting off the root of confusion of acceptance and rejection, hope and fear! Nakedly seeing, recognizing one's own place! Abiding genuinely in a state without pride! Thus it is said. Secondly, cutting the four maras in the dharmadhatu, mainly in all the states of post-meditation, relying on the objects of the six consciousnesses, the mara of conceptual thought surging with obstacles. Not relying on external circumstances, the mara of conceptual thought surging with unobstructed feelings of sadness, fear, etc. Relying on the gathering of favorable conditions, the mara of conceptual thought surging with grasping and attachment, joy and sorrow. No matter what kind of unchanging conceptual thought arises, big or small, it is the mara of pride. Thus, Machig's collection of teachings says: Maras are divided into four types, the mara with obstacles and the mara without obstacles, the mara of joy and sorrow and the mara of pride, all of which are included in the mara of pride. Thus, whichever of the above four conceptual thoughts arises, it is only a mara, it is surging. If attachment arises to it, then one is under the control of the mara, so the method of cutting it is: as soon as a conceptual thought arises, immediately recite PHAṬ (Tibetan, Devanagari, phaṭ, cutting)! Whatever appears, it should be cut off in the dharmadhatu of non-grasping and non-proliferation. Thus, Machig says: Cut off all the maras completely in the mind! Mind itself is liberated in the unborn dharmadhatu! Thus. Secondly, the method of practicing through meditation is: Purify the mindstream, offer to the front, give alms to the guests, visualize oneself countless times, give away flesh and blood without attachment, sleep in the equality of non-thought! Thus it is said. First, purify the mindstream with refuge and bodhicitta, etc., and increase with the view of mind itself without root, the practice of post-meditation with the power of emptiness preceding it has two parts, among which the white offering is: visualize oneself as beautiful and pleasing, and recite PHAṬ (Tibetan, Devanagari, phaṭ, cutting)! From this, from its heart, one's own mind in the form of Vajrayogini is sent out far away, abiding in the space in front. Recite PHAṬ (Tibetan, Devanagari, phaṭ, cutting)! From this, with the hooked knife in her hand, cut off the skull of one's own body from the space between the eyebrows. Visualize three skull supports naturally formed in front, placed on it, as vast and wide as the sky. One's own body
