Since focusing on the cause of transformation cannot abandon the opposing side, there is a restriction on transforming even the nature of focus. Third, regarding the explanation, there are three parts: general explanation, specific explanation, and summary. The first part is: By accurately focusing without exceeding the two truths, when one realizes that the focus is completely pure, one will attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment; otherwise, it is not possible. Therefore, a Bodhisattva should first generally focus on all phenomena, and then separately examine which of these phenomena are virtuous and should be accepted, which are non-virtuous and should be abandoned, and which are unstated and should be kept neutral, and contemplate them properly. When examining in this way, one will realize in order that, for example, the four fruits of a renunciate are virtuous, because they are to be relied upon by those who seek the desired fruit; intentionally taking life and the other ten non-virtuous actions are non-virtuous, because they are to be abandoned in all circumstances as a means of abandoning suffering; actions such as crafts and conduct, which are initiated by an unstated mind, are unstated, because they can be accepted, abandoned, or kept neutral. The second part is: After generally realizing these three types of phenomena, one should then properly examine the remaining objects of focus. In what way? By using these three types of phenomena themselves as the basis for classification, classifying them in two ways, such as mundane and supramundane, resulting in four classifications in total. These four classifications will be explained below and matched in order. When separately realizing the three types of phenomena to be accepted, abandoned, and kept neutral, starting with the virtuous phenomena to be accepted, the five aggregates of appropriation, which are related to the continuum of all ordinary beings and are included in the mundane path, are mundane, because they are the phenomena of the three realms that are familiar with beginningless samsara; the four meditations, which are related to the truth of the continuum of all noble beings and are included in the noble path, are supramundane, because they are the antidote to the three realms and are phenomena unfamiliar with samsara. Thus, one should contemplate properly.

O. Then, in order to abandon the unfavorable aspects, what is to be abandoned with outflows? What is the antidote to abandonment without outflows? To realize this is the desire pursued by future beings, and the attachment to the present aggregates is called clinging. The five aggregates of form, etc., arising from that (clinging) are with outflows, because they are not contrary to the root of outflows—the view of self, so it itself is also an antidote. The four mindfulnesses, etc., included in the transcendent are without outflows, because they are the antidote to the view of self and what belongs to self, so one should contemplate them properly. Then, the antidote itself without outflows, as categories of cause and effect, there are two: cessation and path. So what are the two: cessation and path? If one observes, the aspects of enlightenment, etc., included in the desire realm and the form realm, etc., are the conventional, conditioned part of the path, because they are without outflows dependent on causes and conditions. Likewise, suchness and the true limit, etc., are the ultimate, unconditioned part of cessation, because they are pure and do not depend on causes. Therefore, one should think properly. Then, if one observes what is the fruit to be obtained by the truth of the causal path, meditation is a common and uncommon quality, because it is a quality that arises in the continuum of all noble beings of the three vehicles. The ten powers are uncommon qualities, because they arise only in the continuum of the perfectly complete Buddha. One should think like this. Here, the reason for mentioning "dharmas" is that the ten powers alone can know all the qualities of the Buddha, because each power is the basis of the immeasurable qualities of the Buddha. Third, all the dharmas of the stages of realization, such as these, are viewed as like illusions, so it should be known that the object of focus is only these eleven aspects. Explanation of the object of focus.
