Its nature of having no self-nature. The wise call it emptiness. That emptiness also with emptiness. It is desired that its essence is empty. What is the emptiness called emptiness? Emptiness is considered emptiness. To dispel the clinging of those who have a mind of emptiness as a real thing. Therefore, it is said. Whatever external and internal dharmas are empty of their own nature, that is called emptiness. Emptiness is also as it is said: If there is a little that is not empty, then there will be a little that is empty. If there is not a little that is not empty, how can there be emptiness? As it is said. If there is a little dharma that is not empty by its own nature, then on such a basis to be refuted, some dharma to be refuted is refuted, and it becomes the so-called dharma of emptiness, if, as the reason said before, there is not a little dharma that is not empty. The so-called emptiness, there is no hope that a little established by its own nature can be seen. Therefore, emptiness is also empty by its own nature. That is called emptiness of emptiness. Why is it said? Whoever is foolish, when all dharmas are shown to be emptiness, also clings to emptiness as a real thing or truth, it is said to dispel their clinging. As it is said: To destroy all pervasive calculations, therefore, the nectar of emptiness is shown. Whoever also has clinging to it, that is what you rebuke. As it is said, and also in the Ornament of Precious Garland it is said: Hearing the view of emptiness, if someone's view is not destroyed, it is an incurable view, like a patient abandoned by a doctor. Thus, those who hold emptiness as true, like a patient abandoned by a doctor, are said to have an incurable view. The sentient beings and the vessel world, because of the nature of completely pervading without remainder, and the limit of countless metaphors, because there is none, all directions are great. These ten directions, what is the emptiness, is the great emptiness, it is said to dispel the clinging to greatness. The eastern and other directions are those that completely pervade the sentient beings and the vessel world without remainder, the sentient beings and vessels dwelling in this and that part of the direction, the eastern and other directions

And for the sake of attaching there. Thus, in order to pervade without remainder, the directions are indeed great. Furthermore, meditating on loving-kindness and so forth is great because the directions, having been delimited in all aspects, abide as examples of immeasurability, and therefore are also great due to being limitless. These ten directions, such as the east, are also empty of the nature of directions, which is called the Great Emptiness. Why is this explained? It is explained in order to refute the Particularists and others who hold it to be a great substance that pervades everything. This is the supreme of needs, it is ultimate nirvana. That which is emptiness by that, that is ultimate emptiness. In order to avert the wise from clinging to the reality of nirvana, the ultimate emptiness is taught by the ultimate knowledge. Nirvana is called ultimate because it is the supreme of all needs of a person. As it is said, if nirvana were real, nirvana would become a conditioned phenomenon. There is nothing that is not a conditioned phenomenon, and there is nothing anywhere. In this way, because it is not true, that which is emptiness by that nirvana is called ultimate emptiness. Why is this explained? It is explained in order to refute the clinging of those Particularists who consider nirvana, cessation, to be a real entity. Because the three realms arise from conditions, they are definitely asserted to be conditioned. That which is emptiness by that, that is asserted to be the emptiness of the conditioned. The three realms, such as the desire realm, are called conditioned because they arise from causes and conditions. That which is emptiness by that, that is the emptiness of the conditioned. That which has no arising, abiding, or ceasing is called unconditioned. That which is emptiness of this, that is the emptiness of the unconditioned. That which has no initial arising, no intermediate abiding, and no final ceasing is called unconditioned. That which is empty of its own nature, that is the emptiness of the unconditioned. Why is this explained? It is explained in order to refute the Particularists and others who cling to the unconditioned, such as space, as permanent entities. That which has no end
