The distinctions of being seized by the planets existing in the cycle, etc., when the image of the sun appears in extremely clear water, one can see and understand it. At that time, the image has no inherent existence, so whether it touches or does not touch the sun's disc cannot be measured by reason. However, due to the causes of the water being clear and the image being close, the image arises dependently merely as a designation. Although it has no inherent existence, one can understand from it the distinctions of the sun being seized by the planets, etc. Although the image of the face appearing in extremely clear water has no inherent existence, relying on it, one can establish and understand the distinctions of one's own face being beautiful or not beautiful. Similarly, by refuting with a refutation that has no inherent existence, in this refutation, one should also know that by clearing away the stain of ignorance from the face of the opponent's wisdom, one can create the image of the desired meaning. As the Madhyamika says, even with a reason of untrue inherent existence, one can understand that the position of asserting that things are established by inherent existence is contrary to reason, etc., which is to be established. Furthermore, if one has a valid reason that is truly explanatory, and if one truly has the nature of the object to be proven, then the reasoning of conjunction, etc., could be conveniently applied. But these do not exist, so your efforts are in vain. If the Madhyamika had a reason of their own system that is explanatory, and if there were some things to be proven that are established by their own nature, then one could apply the reasoning of conjunction and non-conjunction, etc., to refute. However, we do not have reasons, etc., that are established by their own nature, so you are presenting refutations to us that are equally flawed in your own words. Know that this is merely futile. For example, just as the aim of someone with cataracts does not harm someone without cataracts, even if one completely adopts both positions to present a refutation to someone who asserts no inherent existence, it will not harm them. Therefore, those examples that establish that the eye and the magnet, etc., can each perform their function without touching should also be rationally refuted, because for those examples, there would be the same fault.

Furthermore, to make beings realize the lack of inherent existence in phenomena is not as easy as asserting inherent existence to others. Since it cannot be easily established, why bind the world with bad reasoning? Just as dreams and illusions, etc., are easily used as examples established in one's own system to make beings realize the lack of inherent existence in both external and internal phenomena, it is not easy to establish inherent existence to other Madhyamikas, because there are no examples accepted by both sides. This is because we do not accept even a little inherent existence in any phenomenon. In this way, I can refute all arguments, and no one can respond. Therefore, why, like a silkworm, weave an extremely strong prison with threads of bad reasoning on top of being wrapped in a cocoon of one's own conceptualizations? Furthermore, having understood the remaining aspects of refutation previously explained, one should respond to questions such as those concerning the examination of contact. "In what way does the refutation occur, and how does the refutation exist or not exist?" The remaining aspects previously explained should be understood through this very point. For those who assert that cause and effect are established by their own nature, the remaining aspects of refutation, such as the refutation of the arising of phenomena from the four extremes, etc., which were previously explained, should also be understood. Then, in response to questions such as the examination of whether the refutation occurs through contact or non-contact, one should say that since both the refuter and the refuted do not arise from the four extremes, there is no way to analyze contact or non-contact. Our treatises only intend to reverse conceptualizations, and not to establish some of our own views or to eliminate the views of others, because there is not even a little phenomenon to be eliminated that can be pointed out. Therefore, we do not have the fault of refuting in any way, as previously stated. The remaining aspects of refutation such as these should be understood through this very point. Therefore, from "Is that born from this, or not from this?" up to "If one examines well, one will quickly attain liberation," the selflessness...
