That is so. Furthermore, one might ask: Do Bodhisattvas who have initially generated the mind of enlightenment not accumulate these paths of virtuous action? The answer is that they do accumulate them. However, all ten of these paths of virtue are blessed upon them and become exceedingly pure. All ten of these paths of virtuous action are blessed upon the Bodhisattva who abides in the second generation of the mind of enlightenment and become exceedingly pure, but they do not become so for the Bodhisattva who abides in the first generation of the mind of enlightenment. Therefore, like the autumn moon, they are always completely pure, and adorned with the gathering of peaceful light. That Bodhisattva, like the cloudless autumn moon, is always completely pure from the stain of immoral conduct. They are peaceful due to the restraint of the senses, and adorned with those pure moral conducts, shining like a gathering of light. In order to show the opposite of moral conduct, it is said: If this one sees himself as the nature of pure morality, then he will not become pure morality. This means that if a person who observes moral conduct sees himself as the nature of pure moral conduct, then he will not become pure moral conduct, because he possesses the stain of pride in moral conduct. As it is also said in the Noble Jewel Heap Sutra: "O Kasyapa, some monks here possess moral conduct, abide in the restraint of the Pratimoksha vows, are endowed with perfect conduct and scope, fear even the slightest fault, properly take up and study all the grounds of training, and live purely with completely pure deeds of body, speech, and mind, yet they speak of themselves. O Kasyapa, that is the first instance of an immoral person pretending to be moral." And so on. Therefore, he is always free from the activity of dualistic minds in all three. Because one who possesses manifest clinging is not pure moral conduct, therefore, the Bodhisattva who abides in stainlessness is always free from the activity of dualistic minds, such as existence and non-existence, in all three: the basis from which one abandons, what one abandons, and by what one abandons.

Delusion will be completely eradicated. Secondly, regarding the praise of ethics, it also includes: ethics being shown as the basis of all virtues; the ethics of Bodhisattvas not associating with discordant aspects; and the distinction between the mundane and the transcendent. Firstly, if a person's foundation of ethics is broken, even if they possess wealth from generosity, they will fall into the lower realms. Etc., it is said. A giver who possesses ethics, through generosity, will obtain particularly excellent wealth among gods and humans. If the giver's foundation of ethics is broken, and their ethics become impure, even if they obtain wealth through generosity, they will fall into temporary beings in lower realms such as hell, nagas, and pretas with great miraculous powers, and there they will enjoy the fruits of generosity. A giver who possesses ethics, through generosity, obtains wealth in the realms of gods and humans, and then gives again, the fruits of generosity will be enjoyed continuously. However, generosity that is separated from the foundation of ethics will not produce continuous wealth. For example: Because the principal along with the interest is completely exhausted, thereafter, they will no longer have enjoyment. Those born in the lower realms, because they are confused about the connection of karma and its results, only exhaust the principal and interest brought about by previous generosity. They do not engage in other generosity for the sake of future results, therefore the foundation of future enjoyment is completely exhausted, and thereafter that person will no longer have enjoyment. If one is separated from the foundation of ethics, not only will there be no future enjoyment, but once fallen into the lower realms, it is also extremely difficult to rise from them. To illustrate this, when one can act independently and dwell in a harmonious place, if at that time one does not cling to self, once fallen into a precipice, one will be controlled by others, and then who will rescue them from there? It is said. The brave one dwells in a harmonious place, like being freed from bondage, acting independently without relying on others, and being in a situation that is in accordance with the path of practice or relying on deities.
