Therefore, the gate of liberation is the nature of realizing emptiness. The teaching also appears the same to the teacher. The second part is divided into two points. The first point, the reason why the noble ones are not afraid of selflessness is: Why does this teaching not become a cause of fear for the noble ones? Because the cause of fear is the aversion to attachment to self. Whoever is attached to self desires the view of things that are in accordance with it and dislikes the view of selflessness that is not in accordance with it. However, for those noble ones who truly think that there is no self or nature in the inner and outer dharmas, and abide in that view, they will be satisfied with what they see, so how can they like having a self? For those who doubt the annihilation of self because they have not seen it, and thus generate fear, how can they be afraid of selflessness? Because they have no attachment to the view of existence and no anger towards selflessness, therefore, nirvana is the abode of the noble ones, so selflessness is not a cause of fear. The second point, compassion should be shown to those who desire the Dharma: Because the cause of endless suffering is connected with the view of things, it leads to the meaningless suffering of samsara, becoming the seed of endless suffering, many heretical snakes, and the extremely dense thickets of thorns holding views of things and non-things, draw people away from the good path of nirvana and into the thickets of thorns of wrong views, killing them day by day by cutting off the life force of virtue corresponding to liberation. Seeing this, for beings who desire liberation from samsara, which Bodhisattva lineage possessing the nature of this teaching would not generate compassion? Respect should be given even more on the basis of compassion, and in order to prevent them from being robbed by the heretical snakes again, the path close to selflessness should be shown to them. The fourth part, distinguishing between coarse and subtle to show self-nature and other-nature: Why are sentient beings associated with heretics and not with the Sugatas? Because there is a distinction between coarse and subtle. For example, the Jains, because they are far from clean behavior, their bodies are covered with mud of filth.

Those who do not consider earth or trees to be pure, and who claim to be purified by enduring sufferings such as cold, wind, sun, and pulling out their hair. Their practices are also understandable by sight. Therefore, the teachings of the naked ones are apprehended by the eye. Brahmins consider reciting the Vedas to be essential. Their teachings are objects of the ear, so the teachings of the Brahmins are apprehended by the ear. Shakyamuni, with the sun of wisdom that sees all things as without inherent existence, illuminates the minds of beings and destroys the darkness of ignorance of wrong views. Seeing conditioned phenomena as like dreams, illusions, and magic, and understanding them to be without inherent existence. Having removed all defilements of afflictions, the minds of those who have become pure are to be understood only through meditative absorption. Therefore, the teachings of the Shakyas are apprehended by the consciousness of the mind, and therefore the doctrine of the Buddha is subtle. Therefore, those who lack understanding, even if they desire merit, do not enter the Buddha's teachings. If you enter the teachings of externalists because they are easy to understand, should you also follow them? Brahmins desire gain and honor from others through actions such as praise, auspiciousness, fire offerings, and repentance. Their teachings mainly focus on external appearances, which is contrary to those who desire liberation, because their actions are in accordance with samsara and are the cause of increasing the near afflictions associated with greed, so the Shakyas did not teach them. Likewise, most of the teachings of the Brahmins are said to be about external appearances and are therefore not to be practiced by those who desire liberation. Similarly, most of the practices of the naked ones, such as pulling out hair, are said to make the mind foolish, and therefore should not be practiced by those who desire liberation. Therefore, one should not follow what they teach. If what they teach is flawed, why do people respect them? Because most of the teachings of the Brahmins are external appearances, so merely reciting them satisfies the minds of most people, who think that reciting the Vedas and so on is obtaining correct knowledge, therefore...
