A birth of... will occur. Thereafter, old age and death, and sorrow, lamentation, and suffering, displeasure, and confusion, all of these arise from birth. Aging, the complete ripening of the aggregates, death, the destruction of the continuity of the aggregates, and sorrow, the heart's anguish at the time of dying, and lamentation, the verbal expression arising from it, and suffering, harm to the five senses, and displeasure, harm to the mind, and confusion arising from many sufferings and displeasures, will all arise from birth. Thus, a mass of suffering will arise. 'Thus' means by the power of cause and condition. As described above, this great mass of suffering, separated from the nature of self and what belongs to self, merely conceived by the ignorant, the very nature of suffering, unmixed with pleasure, will arise. The second point is that because the limbs of existence arise from ignorance and so on, therefore, the root of cyclic existence is action. Therefore, the wise do not act; therefore, the unwise are the actors, because the wise see that. Regarding this, as described above, the root of cyclic existence, which is characterized by the functioning of consciousness and so on, the main factor of the cause is actions caused by ignorance. Therefore, only the ignorant, who are not skilled in that very thing, are the actors of the root of cyclic existence. As the Blessed One said: 'Monks, a person associated with ignorance performs meritorious formations, performs non-meritorious formations, and also performs unwavering formations.' Because only the ignorant who are associated with ignorance perform actions, therefore, those who see that, those who have abandoned ignorance, do not perform actions, because they see the true nature of things. Seeing that, since all things are unobservable, clinging to what would one act?

Because there is not even a little change now. Because if ignorance exists in that way, actions will arise; if it does not exist, actions will not arise. Therefore, if ignorance ceases: all actions will not arise. Because the cause is incomplete. Then, from where does ignorance cease? Ignorance ceases because: it is cultivated with wisdom. Ignorance ceases because the suchness of dependent origination is cultivated with wisdom. Because by cultivating dependent origination as it is, without reversing it, ignorance will be completely abandoned. Like this, whoever correctly sees dependent origination will not be attached to the extremely subtle nature of things, and because there is no attachment, they will not be confused about anything. Because there is no confusion, they will not manifestly create actions. Like this, when ignorance ceases, how do actions cease? Just like that: when that and that cease, that and that will not appear. The sole aggregate of suffering, thus ceases completely. When the former limbs such as ignorance cease, the latter limbs such as actions will not appear and will cease, it should be understood. Through this sequence, the yogi's aggregate of suffering, the sole aggregate of suffering separated from the collection of suffering, self, and what belongs to self, will completely cease because it no longer arises. As it is said: In the "Sālu Green Tree Sutra": What is the internal dependent origination? It is that with ignorance as the condition there are actions, with actions as the condition there is consciousness, with consciousness as the condition there are name and form, with name and form as the condition there are the six sense sources, with the six sense sources as the condition there is contact, with contact as the condition there is feeling, with feeling as the condition there is craving, with craving as the condition there is grasping, with grasping as the condition there is existence, with existence as the condition there is birth, with birth as the condition there are old age and death, and sorrow, lamentation, wailing, suffering, displeasure, and affliction arise. Thus, a single great aggregate of suffering will arise. And so on, extensively spoken.
