I also pay homage to the Sangha (dge 'dun). If you want to know more details, you can also do the seven-branch offering that comes from the 'Prayer of Good Actions'. In the middle, recite the scriptures. If the monk who made the request is willing and able, he should recite the unabridged version of the undefiled scriptures of the Great and Small Vehicles. If one person cannot, many people should take turns to explain. If even that is not possible, then recite this brief version: Oneself: Whether on the golden Mount Meru, or with Mandarava and the gods and Yakshas, or dispelling darkness with the light of jewels, the Nagas dwelling underground, or the Vidyadharas enjoying glory and rejoicing in the snowy mountains, all of these come here to hear the words of the Buddha, which have become the supreme gate of liberation! The rulers of gods and non-gods and non-humans, and Indra and others who have done deeds for the Dharma, the Buddha's teachings are extremely peaceful and are the cause of happiness, come here to hear these explanations of the supreme Dharma! Whatever beings in the ten directions of the world have become disciples of the Sugata, today the teacher pours down the rain of Dharma, all who wish to hear come here! Homage to the Omniscient One! Thus I have heard. At one time, the Blessed One was in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden, together with a great Sangha of twelve hundred and fifty monks. At that time, the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks! Knowledge is decreasing, life is declining, the aggregates of life are being abandoned, and the teacher's teachings will surely be destroyed, why not practice with diligence and steadfast perseverance? Human body is extremely difficult to obtain, and after obtaining it, one has also obtained ordination in the teachings of the Victorious One, which one has obtained, but is deceived by things that do not accord with the meaning of liberation, and becomes miserable! Monks! It is good to lose life and die, but not to have precepts broken and destroyed. Why? Because losing life and dying will only end the life of this life, while breaking and destroying precepts will cause one to lose lineage for hundreds of millions of kalpas, abandon happiness, and experience great falls. Therefore, the teacher greatly praises the precepts. The Buddha who possesses precepts... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
