The Book of Consecration: Dispelling the Darkness of Ignorance The Book of Consecration: Dispelling the Darkness of Ignorance The Rite of Consecration for Establishing a Basis This is The Book of Consecration: Dispelling the Darkness of Ignorance. Homage to Guru Kirti Mati Buddha Dhvaja. Victorious Ones of the three times, and assembly of the ocean of Bodhisattvas, Whoever is the agent of all delight and gathering, the one father Heruka, glorious Vajradhara, seeing the three times without obstruction, to that one I bow from my heart. Having offered praise thus, here will be written the rite of consecration for establishing a basis, Dispelling the Darkness of Ignorance. First, purify the supports with Amrita, and through Shunyata, contemplate the supports as being empty of inherent existence. From within emptiness, the Guru, Yidam, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Dharma Protectors, and Wealth Deities, all upon seats of lotus, sun, and four stacked maras, from Om, Ah, and Hum, arise Vajras marked with Hum. Transforming from that, arise Vajradharas equal in number to the deities, or Hevajra, with a white body and eight faces. The hands (here are abbreviated), but if elaborated, there are the Able One (Shakyamuni Buddha), Vajradhara, Vajrasattva, and others, as well as the assemblies of peaceful and wrathful deities of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and the special Dharma Protectors of the Sakya school, etc., recognizing them, and those who can recite their generation stages, generate them according to their respective sadhanas, without needing to transform their faces. It is said in the scriptures that the rites of all the deities here can be generated in three ways, or they must be generated from their respective seed syllables. In all explanations of consecration, it is said that instantaneous generation is not permissible here. Furthermore, from the arising of actual accomplishments of consecration, similarly, whatever is the main deity should be generated extensively as before. If one misunderstands the phrases 'eighty accomplished ones' and 'sixteen arhats,' thinking that if the main deity of a statue or painting is present, then one should generate them according to their respective sadhanas without needing to transform their faces, this contradicts all consecration rites and explanations. The reasoning behind this should be thoroughly investigated in the writings of the previous Jetsun (Venerable Ones) in order to understand it. The sixteen-faced one, the four-legged one, the root face white, the right blue, the left red, the upper smoky, the remaining two faces black, each face possessing three eyes, baring four fangs, yellow hair standing on end, the crown marked with various vajras. Of the sixteen hands, the right eight hold vajras, and the left eight hold bells with those as handles. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The two right legs are extended, and the two left legs are bent, with the toes pointing inward, residing in a half-lotus dancing posture. Graceful and heroic, etc. In his embrace is the consort Vajra Nairatmya, with a blue body, one face, two arms, and three eyes, holding a curved knife and a skull cup, united with him.
