Afflicted by the immeasurable suffering of unspeakable pain; Even the Asuras (non-gods) in the three realms of heaven constantly fight due to jealousy of the wealth of the gods; and when the gods of the desire realm know that they will be reborn in hell after death, the mental suffering of hell beings is far greater than the physical suffering; although the gods of the formless realm do not have obvious suffering at present, just like a bird falling from the sky, due to the influence of karma, they will fall from higher realms and be reborn in hell and other places, suffering great pain; it is the same with human beings, those of high status suffer mental pain, those of low status suffer physical pain, those with wealth suffer the pain of guarding wealth, those without wealth suffer the pain of seeking wealth, what they want is not obtained, what they do not want descends, the human heart is elusive, encountering enemies, separation from relatives, and so on; in short, it is impossible to escape the natural laws of birth, old age, sickness, and death, therefore, no matter where one is reborn, samsara (cyclic existence) is the root of suffering, whoever one associates with is a companion who creates suffering, whatever one enjoys is an enjoyment of suffering. Therefore, one must be liberated from this suffering-filled samsara and attain Nirvana (cessation). For this purpose, please generate the determination to take the complete Upasaka (layperson's) vows. Even Hinayana (small vehicle) and Pratyekabuddhas (solitary realizer) have such thoughts, so renunciation is sufficient. But here, in order to take the Mahayana (great vehicle) vows, please generate such a determination! As the Dharma Lord Sakya Pandita said: 'Therefore, the current ritual is, based on the generation of Bodhicitta (mind of enlightenment), according to the Hinayana ritual, the eight kinds of Pratimoksha (individual liberation) vows, will be transformed into the Bodhisattva's Pratimoksha vows.' That is to say, all vows based on the desire to attain Buddhahood will become the Mahayana Pratimoksha vows and the Bodhisattva's vows. Therefore, it is very important to generate the desire to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of sentient beings. As the Sutra says: 'As far as the sky extends, so are sentient beings, and so are the limits of karma and afflictions.' Just as the sky has no limits, sentient beings have no limits. Endless sentient beings are not unrelated to oneself; Life after life --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

受持圆满居士戒,只需皈依三宝(dkon mchog gsum,the Three Jewels)即可。

Except for cases where we don't recognize them after rebirth, there is no one who hasn't been our parents. They always protect us from harm and give us help; they are all benefactors. It is unreasonable to abandon them and seek happiness only for oneself. As it is said: 'If one abandons those whom one does not recognize after rebirth and seeks personal liberation, there is no greater shamelessness than that.' Parents and sentient beings all want happiness and do not want suffering, but due to reversed actions of cause and effect, some are now experiencing severe suffering such as heat and cold, and some are engaging in the great unwholesome causes of suffering. This is truly pitiable. It is useless to merely think 'pitiable, pitiable.' We must liberate them from suffering and establish them in happiness. But we do not have that ability now, nor do Brahma (Tshangs pa), Indra (brGya byin), Śrāvakas (Nyan thos), and Pratyekabuddhas (Rang sangs rgyas). Who has that ability then? Only the perfect Buddha (rdzogs pa'i sangs rgyas) possesses it. Because the perfect Buddha can benefit countless sentient beings through various means, such as uttering just one verse of Dharma or emitting a little light from his body. For the sake of all parent sentient beings, I must attain the state of perfect Buddhahood of non-abiding nirvana (mi gnas pa'i myang 'das, apratiṣṭhita nirvāṇa). For that purpose, please generate the mind to take the vows of a complete lay follower (dge bsnyen gyi sdom pa, upāsaka vows). To take the vows of a complete lay follower, one only needs to take refuge in the Three Jewels (dkon mchog gsum). As it is said in the root text (mDo rtsa ba): 'The words of vowing to take refuge.' That is, taking refuge in the Buddha (sangs rgyas) is requesting a guide who shows the path to nirvana; taking refuge in the Dharma (chos) is requesting actual refuge in nirvana; taking refuge in the Sangha (dge 'dun) is requesting companions who practice nirvana, thereby taking the vows. To summarize everything, for the sake of all parent sentient beings wandering in the suffering of samsara, take refuge in the Three Jewels, and from this time until death, take and keep the vows of a complete lay follower. Please think: 'Please accept me as a lay follower who holds the five precepts (bslab gzhi lnga),' and then repeat this ritual. Please listen, Sangha. I, the practitioner, state my name— Named [Name], from this time until the end of my life, I take refuge in the two-legged... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
