Instructions on Trekchö. Instructions on Trekchö. From the teachings of the Great Perfection, the Lama Chakrasamvara, there are instructions on Trekchö. Homage to the great glorious Heruka! Furthermore, the meaning of the eighty-four thousand profound and ultimate Dharma gates, also relying on the Tantra of the Gathering of Vidyadharas, is a profound Dharma for the fortunate to swiftly attain liberation. I, Orgyen, the teacher Padmasambhava, write this. May future fortunate sons enjoy it! Samaya! Gya gya gya! The key to liberation through Trekchö, the swift path for the fortunate, has three meanings: preliminaries, main practice, and conclusion. Samaya! Gya gya gya! There are also three preliminaries: common, uncommon, and special preliminaries. Samaya! Gya gya gya! There are also five common preliminaries: the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, impermanence of death, infallibility of karma, samsara as an ocean of suffering, and the benefit of ultimate, unsurpassed liberation. Samaya! Gya gya gya! First, the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment also has three aspects: difficulty in terms of examples, difficulty in terms of numbers, and difficulty in terms of time. First, difficulty in terms of examples also has three aspects: like a wish-fulfilling jewel, an udumbara flower, or grains on a smooth wall. A wish-fulfilling jewel is very difficult to find. If methods, circumstances, tools, and the powerful prayers of the past are not gathered, one loses the opportunity to obtain the jewel. Similarly, a precious human body is obtained only by those who have accumulated merit and purified obscurations from many eons ago; otherwise, it is difficult to obtain. The udumbara flower does not grow in just any place, and even if it does grow, it only appears when the lion among humans, the chief of the two-legged, comes into the world; otherwise, it loses the opportunity to grow. Similarly, a human body with leisure and endowment cannot be obtained by just any being; it must arise only from the result of correctly practicing the Dharma, so it is difficult to obtain. Even if thousands of bushels of grain are scattered on a very smooth wall, not even one will stick; and if one does stick, it is even more

The leisure and endowment of human life are extremely difficult to obtain. Secondly, from the perspective of quantity, it is very difficult to obtain a human body: a huge pile of grain, its base being the other six realms of beings, and the top being the example of the bodies of gods and humans, so it is difficult to obtain. Thirdly, from the perspective of time, not being born in the dark aeon, the intermediate empty aeon, the aeon when the Buddha appears but does not teach the Dharma, and the beings who are not suitable vessels even if the Dharma is taught, but obtaining a human body at the time when the teacher appears, teaches the Dharma, and the teachings abide, is difficult. Samaya! (藏文:ས་མ་ཡཱ།) Gya Gya Gya! (藏文:རྒྱ་རྒྱ་རྒྱ།) Secondly, impermanence of death has three aspects: the impermanence of the outer container world, the impermanence of the inner sentient beings, and the impermanence of one's own illusory body in between. Firstly, the impermanence of the outer container world also has three aspects: formation, abiding, and emptiness. Secondly, the impermanence of inner sentient beings also has three aspects: great impermanence, coarse impermanence, and subtle impermanence. Firstly, great impermanence is: even the perfect Buddhas must pass into nirvana, so it is impermanent. Secondly, coarse impermanence is: the Great Brahma, Indra with a thousand eyes, and the great kings must also experience death and rebirth, so it is impermanent. Thirdly, subtle impermanence is: all beings in our three thousand great thousand worlds and the three realms must certainly die, in short, once a body composed of the four elements is taken, the conditions for survival are rarer than the stars in the daytime, and the conditions for death are more numerous than the grains of dust on the great earth, so it is impermanent because one does not know where one will die, here one will die, or when one will die. In between, the impermanence of one's own illusory body has two aspects: cause and condition. Firstly, the cause is impermanent: this vile body composed of impure and evil substances, and the realm of the four elements bursting like a bubble, even if one accumulates past merit, one cannot produce another better body from it, so it is impermanent. Secondly, the condition is impermanent: all the good times, such as the times when the teachings flourished, have passed, and now it is the end of the age of strife and solidity, the age of a hundred-year lifespan, this evil age when the five degenerations flourish, the types of diseases are many, the types of demons are rampant, the flesh-eating ghosts and spirits are flourishing, and sudden events and accidents fall like rain.
