Collection of Teachings by Master Naropa NARO29 Bardo Wrathful Vajra Paper Roll 1-4-49a Bardo Wrathful Vajra Paper Roll Bardo Wrathful Vajra Paper Roll The instructions of Orgyen (Udyana). [There are different views on Bardo. Some say there are four Bardos, Naro and Nigu (Niguma) say there are three, Milarepa elaborates on six, the Star School says there are four, Mitri says there are three Bardos of contemplation and action, Phadampa says there are three Bardos, Master Garab Dorje says there are three Bardos, and Pandit Shri Singha says there are six.] The very essence of all Dakinis, the essence of all Tantras combined, like refined gold, is the instruction according to the view of the glorious great Naropa. Sanskrit Romanization: bhagavan, literal meaning: Possessed of Good Fortune) [The meaning of Bhagavan, as stated in the Vajra Peak Sutra: 'Afflictions, karma, and birth, as well as all inauspicious dharmas, are subdued, hence called 'Bhagavan'; possessing power, beauty, and good form, fame, auspiciousness, and wisdom, complete with diligence, hence called 'Possessed of Good Fortune.' 'Gone Beyond' refers to the excellence of worldly affairs, especially the distinction taught by the wise.] Mainly teaches the lineage of the Four Seat Empowerments. It also says: 'Birth is conventional truth, death is ultimate truth. If one can understand these two through the kindness of the Guru, one will surely become a Buddha in the future.' Here it mentions the instructions of the Root Vajra Garland Tantra, the Air Vajra Garland Tantra, and the Bindu Vajra Garland Tantra, which are: 'The supreme king should be worshipped, Mandala Asanga should be questioned.' Therefore, the Mandala is the supreme king, the deity is the supreme king, and the mantra is the supreme king. It also says here: 'In this Vajra body, there are naturally four categories, therefore four deities reside.' 'Death is abandonment, it is conventional truth. From it arises the Bardo, when all sentient beings die, the alternation of appearances should be practiced in this way.' 'When the skandha of form dissolves, the strength of the body diminishes. When the wisdom of equality dissolves, it dissolves into the mandala of the Great自在天. The body cannot move, the function of the eyes ceases, the body loses its radiance, and all external objects become unclear.' 'One who possesses the lineage of the precious Protector,' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All the deities, in an instant, enter into the ultimate mandala. When the aggregate of feeling dissolves, one no longer experiences feeling. The mirror-like wisdom dissolves into the water mandala. The physical body becomes withered. When the ear faculty dissolves, sound is no longer heard, and the realm of sound ceases. All the deities of the Vajra Protector family, in an instant, enter into the ultimate mandala. When the aggregate of perception dissolves, one no longer remembers sentient beings. When the realm of smell dissolves, taste disappears. The discriminating wisdom dissolves, and one no longer remembers beings. The fire mandala also dissolves. All food cannot be digested. When the nose faculty dissolves, the upper wind moves slowly. All the deities of the Lotus Protector family, in an instant, enter into the ultimate mandala. When the aggregate of formation dissolves, the mind no longer engages in all physical activities. The wisdom of accomplishing activities dissolves, and one no longer remembers thoughts. When the wind mandala dissolves, the ten winds scatter in their own places. When the tongue faculty dissolves, the fine and coarse channels become visible. When the realms of taste dissolve, the six tastes are no longer experienced. All the deities of the Karma Protector family, in an instant, enter into the ultimate mandala. The aggregate of consciousness, in the order of manifestation, increase, and attainment, one dissolves into the other, and clear light becomes manifest. This is called the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu, and it is free from elaboration. The mandala of the space element is characterized by being unconditioned. When the body faculty dissolves, one obtains the vajra body of emptiness, free from the conceptualization of tangible objects. All the deities of the Vairochana Protector family, in an instant, enter into the ultimate mandala. Thus, the five aggregates, the five wisdoms, the five elements, the five faculties, and the five objects, all enter into the mandala of clear light. This is called the supreme king of mandalas. For a person of superior faculties, in the clear light of the supreme king of mandalas, the first bardo is realized. This is the instruction of the great Naropa, the instruction of the Dharmakaya. Secondly, the illusory body arises, both pure and impure. The pure is the pure land of the Victorious Ones, and one's own body is visualized as the deity. The essence of the clear light fire burns all habitual tendencies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
