Since there is no author, the wise have a clear understanding of the meaning. With patience, good deeds are matured, and with taming, teachings and the like are matured, four in total. With long passage of time, long growth and the like, four in total. Inexhaustible qualities are generally explained. Fourth, the excellence of the Bodhisattva's practice is explained by two verses, such as "the desirous one": The desirous beings of the desire realm, who are attached to the five desirable qualities, accept and practice the five desirable qualities, because from that cause they will experience great fear in this life and in future lives, therefore they enter into great fear. The two beings of the upper realms, the form and formless realms, practice meditation that gathers the mind within, because they have not transcended the joy of that ground and that existence, the suffering of the aggregate of formations, and they are attached to the unstable, wavering pleasure of the inverted nature of samsara, and they practice such meditation. The Hearers and Solitary Realizers who delight in the pacification of the suffering of samsara, only tend towards the complete pacification of the future existence of their own continuum, and practice it. The practice of the Bodhisattva, who is the embodiment of compassion, is to pacify all suffering of self and others with wisdom, and with compassion not to abandon sentient beings, but to abide constantly for the benefit of others, therefore it is superior to the practice of the former worldly people and the past Hearers and Solitary Realizers. The foolish ordinary people of the world, each not considering anything for the sake of others, diligently engage in various activities such as farming, trading, and taking wives for the sake of their own happiness, but they do not obtain such happiness as they desire, which is always without fault and perfectly complete for their own benefit, and in this life they also suffer from cold, heat, hunger, thirst, and so on, and the causes of seeking what they have not previously obtained, and the causes of the loss of what they have obtained, cause much suffering to body and mind, and in future lives they will also obtain many kinds of suffering such as the lower realms. The steadfast Bodhisattvas, who are always diligent in the affairs of others, temporarily experience many kinds of happiness in this life and future lives for themselves and others, and ultimately they will attain non-abiding Nirvana, at that time

Having attained the great bliss that fulfills all meanings and never diminishes, and for the sake of benefiting others, having attained the inexhaustible activity of benefiting and bringing happiness to all sentient beings. Fifth, practice is continuous: others may be separated from practice when they are not diligent, but bodhisattvas are not like that. Through the power of the aspiration and engagement mind, even when dwelling in heedlessness such as sleep, the roots of virtue constantly increase. Not only do they actually practice the six perfections such as giving with body, speech, and mind, benefiting sentient beings, but also in all activities of walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, they benefit sentient beings with the aspiration of the mind's inclination. Therefore, whatever actions the sons of the buddhas perform, at the time when the six senses engage in various objects, in whatever way, they generate aspirations that are appropriate to the occasion, for the benefit of sentient beings, thus skillfully transforming all neutral actions into means of benefiting sentient beings. As it is said in the Sutra of Completely Pure Conduct: When a bodhisattva enters a city, may all sentient beings enter the supreme city of liberation; when walking on a path, may all sentient beings enter the path of the Great Vehicle; when climbing stairs, may all sentient beings climb the stairs of liberation; when bathing, may all sentient beings' karmic obscurations be purified; when kindling a fire, may the firewood of all sentient beings' conceptual thoughts be burned by the fire of wisdom. And so forth, with pure Dharma that corresponds to each situation, they dedicate the merit with aspirations that all sentient beings attain happiness and liberation, thus continuously benefiting others. Sixth, when accomplishing the benefit of others, not being discouraged by others' wrongdoings: Because bodhisattvas possess the wisdom that realizes the nature of all phenomena as they are, without distortion, and because they possess great compassion for sentient beings, therefore, even though sentient beings are always controlled by the faults of attachment, anger, and ignorance, which are rooted in the constant grasping of self as what is not self, their minds are

For beings who are like me, the wise Bodhisattva does not blame those beings for their beatings, evil words, and wrong views, etc. Just as madmen harm others and also fall down themselves, they are also involuntarily controlled by afflictions, and that is why they act wrongly in this way. Because they understand this, they do not become angry or sad towards those who act wrongly, but rather, in order to liberate them from these faults, they generate great compassion. Third, showing the greatness of practice and summarizing the meaning: This practice of the Bodhisattva overcomes the three realms of existence (desire realm, form realm, formless realm) and the five paths of rebirth, possesses the supreme peace of non-abiding Nirvana, and increases more and more with the collection of various qualities such as grounds, perfections, powers, and fearlessness. With the thought of loving-kindness, they constantly gather beings and never abandon them. It possesses the four great qualities of overcoming all beings, attaining non-abiding Nirvana, increasing qualities, and never abandoning sentient beings, just as it has been shown above. In the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras, the chapter on practice, the sixth chapter, is completed. Chapter Six: Explanation of Practice.
