Moreover, the nature of illusion, awareness, is awareness, so these two are definitely not different. For example, no matter what disguise a person changes into, their essence is the same; and like gold, copper, and other things, no matter what different shapes are made, the nature of the thing does not change, so the mind and awareness should also be understood in this way. The Bhagavan said, 'There is no mind outside of mind, the nature of mind is luminosity.' This means that the nature of illusion and conceptualization is not truly established, so it has no color or shape; but it is not a completely empty void either, so the essence of awareness is luminosity. For example, a mirror without dirt, pitch black, is like the nature of mind being emptiness, this is a metaphor for essence. The Dharmakaya is also like that. From its state, the nature is free from all obscurations and coverings, clear and bright, this is a metaphor for nature. The Sambhogakaya is also like this. In it, the images of beings, as well as the forms of Buddhas, impure tiles and stone slabs, etc., whatever appears, appears unhindered from the radiance of self-aware awareness, this is a metaphor for compassion. The Nirmanakaya is also the same. Whatever images appear, they are all unified in the essence of the mirror, and appear from the mirror without moving, just as the mirror is not stained or touched by any image, the play of self-appearance also symbolizes the inseparability of emptiness and appearance. Likewise, where are those who wander in samsara and where is samsara? Where is nirvana and the means to attain it? Appearance and emptiness, happiness and emptiness, happiness and suffering, awareness and ignorance, negation and affirmation, etc., all dualities must be distinguished. Samaya! Gya Gya Gya! Secondly, the actual practice of Trekchö is: establishing the foundation with the three 'Chok,' placing whatever arises in naked awareness, showing that abiding, moving, and essence are inseparable, and combining whatever appears with the cause of self-liberation. First, establishing the foundation with the three 'Chok': Essence 'Chok,' the posture of the body should keep the key parts of the body from moving. Ocean 'Chok,' the eyes should aim at the sky about the length of the eyes, and remain still. Awareness 'Chok,' placing the essence of self-aware awareness in an unfabricated, original state.

Letting go and resting without effort. By resting in this way, the proliferation of knowing what to accept and reject, what is virtuous and non-virtuous, is pacified, and the very state of abiding in the original, primordial purity of coemergent wisdom of clarity and emptiness is the meaning of trekchö. As the Thallgyur says, "In the essence of primordial purity, there is no such thing as ignorance. Therefore, there is no counting one and two. In the undivided nature of reality, there is no such thing as mere wisdom." And as the Rangshar says, "It transcends the extremes of permanence and annihilation. The stains of the four extremes are self-purified." The mind abiding in freedom from proliferation is the dharmakaya. Clarity without grasping is the sambhogakaya. The basis of the unceasing display of various appearances is the nirmanakaya. The indivisibility of essence, nature, and compassion is as the Norbu Trakö says, "Perfect Buddha is self-knowing. Essence is unchanging in the three times. Nature is eternally unchanging. Compassion is self-appearing in all ways." And as the Thallgyur says, "When wisdom abides as self-knowing, it is indivisible in the manner of the three kayas." And as the Mutik Trengwa says, "In the primordial purity of the very beginning, there is no such thing as delusion. Likewise, what is non-delusion? Therefore, delusion is primordially pure." Such is the meaning of primordial purity. The three of chok, shyak, and zhak: As the Rinchen Drönma says, "From the nature of the three of chok, shyak, and zhak, the very meaning of primordial purity is manifested." Second, whatever arises, resting nakedly in awareness: In that state, whatever spontaneously arising awareness arises, do not conceptualize it, do not deliberately grasp it, do not elaborate, do not gather it, do not do anything contrived or artificial. By resting in this way, the collection of thoughts becomes self-liberated. For example, just as waves arise in the ocean but do not go beyond the nature of the ocean water, so too, however thoughts arise, they do not go beyond the state of primordial purity of dharmata. As the Thallgyur says, "The awareness that arises, like a snake uncoiling, is self-liberated. Since there is no antidote, cease effort. It is primordially liberated by its very nature." And as the Trakö says, "Unimpeded capacity arises in any way. In the very arising, it is liberated in its own place. There is no saying 'liberated' as such. Likewise, what is non-liberated?" Therefore, do not do anything to welcome or reject, abandon or adopt, negate or affirm the thoughts that arise. Letting them go freely in their self-arising state is to make thoughts the path as the play of dharmata. At the time of resting nakedly in awareness,
