Just as it is the universal law of the world, there is no point in disliking the turn of abandoning these things coming upon oneself, and not only in this life, but in the past, one has received such results many times. Having been deceived by those results, there has never been a time when one has not lost sight of the great matters of the present and the future. What is there to cling to in things that harm under the guise of helping? Now, when one has the good fortune to take refuge in such a good refuge, make a heartfelt prayer without hesitation, and it would be best to gain stability in the face of death. Even if that is not possible, go from the bardo to the Copper-Colored Mountain paradise with joy, like a son returning home to his father, and there practice the profound path of the vidyadharas, thereby attaining the Dharma kingship that sustains oneself and others forever. Thinking in this way, do not fear death, but uplift your mind and be joyful. Without being miserly with all the possessions you have, offer them to the lama if he is actually present, or, if not, use them for tsokhor and other such purposes, restoring the vows and commitments that have been forgotten or broken, and vowing not to do so again in the future, and strive in every way to accumulate merit and purify negativity. Recall all the virtuous deeds you have done in the past and present, and cultivate much rejoicing, free from pride. And, for the benefit of others, dedicate those roots of virtue, so that one may recognize the clear light at the time of death and attain enlightenment in this life. Even if that is not possible, may one meet the lama in the bardo, practice the remainder of the path in the vidyadhara's paradise, and thereby become the sole companion who saves beings as vast as space, and make strong aspirations and prayers. Then, when death actually comes, take refuge and bodhicitta as your guides. Visualize in front of you the essence of your kind root lama, in the form of Guru Padmasambhava, with a pleasing radiance. Facing you, with loving-kindness, he comforts you with his vajra voice, saying, 'Child, do not fear death! I will lead you to the path of bliss.' Just remembering these things will cause fear and delusion to naturally cease. Be certain that he is the essence of the union of all the Three Jewels, and without being distracted, pray with all your might, as if your head were about to crack, to accomplish those meanings as you have aspired to before. After that,
