In order to gather the Sangha, either a novice or a fully ordained monk, or even a layperson who is abiding by the Sojong, can go to the place where the Ghandi is struck, and after prostrating to the Three Jewels, strike the Ghandi of action once with three loud sounds, and then strike three times. Why is it struck? For the sake of Sojong. This should be understood. Furthermore, before the assembly, the Sangha should each examine their own downfalls of body, speech, and mind from the end of the previous Sojong until now. If it is found that there has been a downfall, then one should confess and receive the appropriate remedy.
