The Meaning of the Text The Meaning of the Text A Brief Account of Previous Lifetimes Here, our glorious and venerable lama, the embodiment of the body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities of all Buddhas of the three times, whose lotus feet are revered by all beings of the three realms, and who wields power over all the kingdoms of Dharma, the great lord of Dharma, whose name is difficult to utter, known throughout the world, including gods, as Dro-dul Terdak Lingpa I shall now relate a brief account of his liberation story, in two parts: a brief account of his previous lifetimes, and a detailed explanation of his liberation story in this life. Firstly, this great being, long before countless eons, having been completely freed from all defilements of the realms, manifestly awakened into the essence of the Dharmakaya, and without moving from that state, spontaneously manifested as the Sambhogakaya with the five certainties, the ever-present wheel of continuity. Then, he manifested various Nirmanakayas to benefit limitless beings to be tamed. In an instant, in some pure lands, he manifested as the Svabhavikakaya and benefited the Bodhisattvas with symbolic teachings. In others, he emanated as great Thupas, each one, and benefited the beings of the six realms with the four ways of taming. Similarly, in some pure lands, he appeared as Bodhisattvas, in others as Chakravartin kings, in others as Brahma and Indra, and so on, and in others as Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, ascetics, Brahmins, kings, householders, and so on. In short, he took on the form of whatever was necessary to tame beings and benefited them in countless ways. As it is said in the Peaceful Root Tantra of the Gathering of Sugatas: "In one place, he benefits beings with the Dharmakaya; in one place, he benefits beings with the Sambhogakaya; in one place, he benefits beings with the Nirmanakaya; in one place, he benefits beings with the form of a Bodhisattva; at that time, in one place, he is a Chakravartin king; in one place, he is a Brahmin; in one place, he is a householder."

And, in some places manifesting as merchants, in some places manifesting as men, women, sinners, animals, etc., completely purifying the realms of all sentient beings. Furthermore, the Avatamsaka Sutra also states: "Good son, the manifestations of the Tathagata are immeasurable. For those sentient beings who should be tamed, he accomplishes their benefit with such forms, colors, and names." Thus, with the dance of limitless manifestations, he accomplishes the benefit of limitless beings to be tamed. Now, temporarily, according to the needs of the time, in this realm, in accordance with the common appearances of some of the beings to be tamed, we will briefly describe a small part of his activities. The prophecy in the self-revealed treasure of the 'Sha'ug' treasure discovery states: "The one who recites this is the translator Vairochana. In the past, countless eons ago, he generated the supreme Bodhicitta. Although he has attained Buddhahood in the nature of the three bodies, with skillful means and great compassion, he appears in various manifestations." And so on. This great being, when he was a beggar in the past, sold himself to the Tathagata Adornment King, and with this cause, he first generated the supreme Bodhicitta. As it is said in the Bhadrakalpa Sutra: "When the Tathagata Light was a beggar, he sold and offered himself to the Tathagata Adornment King, and first generated the supreme Bodhicitta." Because of this. From that time onwards, he entered for the sake of Bodhi, and although he had reached the ultimate shore, he saw the sentient beings wandering in this dangerous cycle of existence, oppressed by the immeasurable burden of suffering, and with the power of immeasurable great compassion, he manifested an endless series of manifestations, as stated in the self-revealed treasure's hidden prophecy: "Vairo, you are the last Bodhisattva, your past lives before this are the meaning of the wisdom treasury beyond words and thoughts, sentient beings and Buddhas are equal and pervasive, the Vajra Dharma is the guide of the beings of the three realms, Shakya's attendant Ananda, King Dza and Shantigarbha, Sambhota and others in this land of Tibet, such pure lives, impure lives, cannot be fully described, in such pure lives, great compassion for beings."
