It says, "Wisdom is complete observation." The Abhidharmakosha states: "One hundred and twenty kshanas, sixty of those kshanas are one snap of the fingers. Moments, days and nights, months, increase thirtyfold from above. Twelve months, including leap months, are a year." Furthermore, the condensed essence of the eight branches from the Sutra of Golden Light states: "One hundred and twenty mental discriminations are called a kshana. Three kshanas are one exhalation and inhalation. Six breaths are one water-clock. Sixty water-clocks or three hundred and sixty breaths are one hour. Sixty hours are one day and night, which is twenty-one thousand six hundred breaths. Thirty days and nights are one month. Twelve months are one year, and one hundred years is called the end of a person's lifespan." Thus, six breaths of a healthy person are one water-clock, six water-clocks are one hour, sixty hours are one day and night, and based on this, dates, weekdays, constellations, and so on are determined. How are the measurements of tangible objects determined? The Abhidharmakosha states: "Iron, water, rabbit, sheep, and ox, sunlight, dust, mustard seed, and finger joint, are called the above seven, increasing sevenfold in succession. Twenty-four fingers are one cubit, four cubits are one bow, eighty bows are one yojana. Five hundred yojanas are called one krosa, and that is called a monastery." Thus it is said. It is also said that height is measured in fingers, weight is measured in srang, and volume is measured in bre. The Immortal Treasury states: "Measurement is done with srang, fingers, and bre, five maru etc. are one mashaka, sixty of those are one sho, four sho are one srang." Thus it is said. (Numerical units) In reality, there are numerical units such as sixty, etc., but there is no need to elaborate. Furthermore, in calculation, there are numerals, classification, addition, subtraction, multiplication, which are the five branches of writing; and weekdays, dates, constellations, conjunctions, actions, which are the five branches of calculation; and finding the speed and slowness of each planet, the two conditions of direct and retrograde motion, as well as the houses, and the calculation of their auspiciousness, as well as Rahu, time-fire, and the calculation of their holding of the sun and moon, and the calculation of the end of external affairs such as the appearance and disappearance of comets.
